Educational Technologist

Mission & Authority

In accordance with the vision and strategy set forth by the CLO and in cooperation with mission/departmental leadership, this excellence-oriented individual will serve as technological and pedagogical resource toward the end of equipping Young Life staff world-wide to effectively fulfill the mission of introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.

​Essential Duties:

Spiritual Development

  • Maintains personal spiritual health by regular devotion, solitude, and prayer.
  • Active in a church.
  • Reflects a hospitable, Christ-like attitude of servant leadership.
  • Has a regular pattern of cultivating emotional health.

UI/UX Learning Development

  • Work closely with department teams to build effective learning experiences (including but not limited to videos, graphics, flipbooks, pdfs, and learning management system elements) for Young Life staff worldwide. This work will be done through collaboration with Learning and Leadership’s Architecture Team using KSA (knowledge, skills, and attitude) learning categories as a framework for staff and volunteer learning.
  • Assist in executing product vision for digital learning platforms and tools that address mission-wide needs and use-cases.
  • Assist in maintaining mission-wide standards set by Learning and Leadership’s Architecture Team for content development and delivery to ensure excellence in UI/UX alignment and consistency across all learning experiences.
  • Prioritize ongoing professional development to continue growing in the field of digital learning platforms and experiences.
  • Apply pedagogical best practices to the creation of exceptional adult-learning experiences.
  • Work with department teams to ensure learning programs embody a symbiotic blend of digital learning methods and ‘incarnational’ in-person elements.
  • Set annual UI/UX improvement goals based on data analysis of the learning experience from user surveys.
  • Uses a quality assurance framework to assess the UI/UX of learning experiences and works with stakeholders to achieve greater UI/UX alignment.
  • Collect, assess, and utilize feedback from all learning experiences and stakeholders to enhance the efficacy of learning platforms and experiences.
  • Regularly collaborate with stakeholders to maintain and update iterative digital Learning experiences including, but not limited to, gradebook creation, grade reporting and database uploads.

Administrative Support

  • Provides general support to Learning and Leadership’s Architecture Team primarily and to the Learning and Leadership Hospitality & Logistics secondarily.
  • Assist in developing and administering standards and best practices for course communication.
  • Prioritizes and responds to stakeholder communication related to the learning technology platform(s).
  • Assist in building, deploying, and maintaining learning experiences for mission-wide stakeholders.
  • Uses a team-based workflow productivity tool for learning projects to ensure prompt product/service delivery.
  • Process payments, transfers, accounting and record keeping for projects as assigned.
  • Work alongside Instructional Design Lead to train learning experience creators and facilitators in best practices for course design, editing, and grading.
  • Assists in developing and improving digital learning experiences for staff in alignment with the vision of the Learning and Leadership department.
  • Supports the digital learning side of in-person learning events hosted by various stakeholders by providing support for and facilitation of digital learning platforms and technologies.
  • Attends weekly staff meetings.
  • Assists in other tasks as the Learning and Leadership department has need.

Job-Specific Working Condition​s

  • Office environment (possibility of remote); occasional domestic travel may be required.
  • This position has an anticipated hourly range of $18.36 - $22.98 annually depending on the relevant experience and education.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelors degree in related field required. ​

Experience Required for the Job

  • Previous Young Life involvement, including an understanding of Young Life field culture and organizational structure.
  • Ability to interface with volunteers and staff comfortably in any communications format (videoconference, phone, email, and in-person).
  • Ability to multi-task projects to completion.
  • Previous experience with team-based projects.
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven experience with LMSs/LXPs (Moodle preferred), DAPs (WalkMe preferred) and CRMs (Salesforce currently preferred).
  • Clear understanding of the fundamentals of instructional design, especially as it pertains to adult-learning
