DIRECTOR OF THEOLOGY AND PRACTICE

Mission & Authority:

This person will enhance the theological depth and practice of Young Life staff through helping to empower and develop quality facilitation and learning opportunities throughout all facets of the Young Life mission.

Essential Duties:

Spiritual Development - "Following Jesus" includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships.

  • Maintain personal spiritual health by regular devotion, solitude, and prayer.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Hospitable, Christ-like attitude of servant leadership.
  • Solid biblical and theological foundation.
  • Strong spiritual, emotional health and evidence of spiritual growth

Learning & Leadership - People and team development including leaders, committee, and staff through events, trainings, and department alignment.

  • Collaborate effectively with Learning and Leadership teams toward learner centric culture, processes and experiences.
  • As directed by supervisor build teams that support credit and standards of theological offerings and processes.
  • Work collaboratively with teams and facilitators on all learning opportunities to ensure integrity of theological delivery and alignment in a way that the learner can emulate.
  • Initiate and collaborate with theological experts and practitioners both in and outside of Young Life.

Department Support & Vision Development - taking care of business includes internal communication, data management, and strategic planning.

  • Analyze, research and evaluate learning opportunities through theology that represents a global mission.
  • Consider, collaborate, and align all content and curriculum through the theological framework of the mission.
  • Scope and sequence equitable theological learning tracks that best serve the needs of our staff to more effectively fulfill the mission.
  • Responsible for seminary credit and commissioning standards, integrity, relationships and processes.
  • Make changes based on assessment, input and feedback.
  • As advised research, create and lead potential change of theological content that best develops Christ centered leaders that are equipped to fulfill the mission.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • MA in Theology

Experience Required for the Job:

  • Understands and demonstrates the mission values and ethos of Young Life.
  • Understands and can equip staff in the skills needed for successful Young Life ministry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in web-based training preferred.
  • Evidenced ability towards continual improvement.
  • Learner and growth mindset.

Notes:

  • Some travel will be required.
  • This position is open to remote work.
