NextGen Leaders (NGL) Divisional Coordinator - Northeastern Division

Mission/Authority

The NGL Divisional Coordinator will oversee all NGL ministries within Young Life's Northeastern Division. They will lead in training, support, and encourage NGL Staff and local areas within the division. The responsibilities of an NGL Divisional Coordinator include the ability to function at various levels and with diverse groups of people.

Essential Duties:

Spiritual Development -​ "Following Jesus." Includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships.

  • Maintain personal spiritual health by having regular devotion, solitude, and prayer.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life and development of the NGL Community.

Leadership Development - "Equipping leaders, committee and staff." Includes key volunteer care, recruiting, team-building and training, supervision, and vision casting.

  • Lead a division-wide NGL training program with an average of 30 NGL Student Staff accepted into the program annually (concurrent training model with annual graduating class).
  • Oversee the NGL program with at least 66% of regions in the division participating in the program.
  • Foster community among NGL Participants, Training Team, and YL Staff participating in the program.
  • Be actively involved with recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding processes of NGL Students hired by each region and accepted into the divisional NGL program.
  • Recruit and develops an NGL training team plan that fits the strengths of each division.
  • Regularly meet with the team to plan, execute and evaluate the training process.
  • Fill the gap as a trainer for regions that do not have a designated regional NGL trainer.
  • Assist the National Director in national event planning, projects, and curriculum development annually.
  • Work in coordination with divisional SVP towards meeting diversity goals that reflect the demographics of each region within the division.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of NGL training, especially as it relates to Cultural Intelligence, in building a Young Life culture where diverse teams can flourish.
  • Agree and align training plan to support the 70% core NGL key learning objectives and outcomes.

Resources Development - "Fueling the ministry." Includes events, major donor care, public relations (branding), and the Taking Donors Seriously (TDS) team.

  • Help develop and lead the Division’s NGL fundraising strategy, ensuring excellence in communication to donors, in coordination with the divisional development staff to meet the annual NGL budget.
  • Assist National NGL Director in active engagement through Relationship-Centered Engagement practices.
  • Work in partnership with the Regional Directors in the strategic identification of potential NGL candidates and their funding plans if accepted into the program.
  • Raise a portion of personal budget as agreed upon with the National NGL Director.
  • If appropriate, recruit, develop, encourage and sustain a diverse NGL Divisional Committee.
  • Ensure that all Young Life financial policies and procedures are implemented.

Direct Ministry - "Proclaiming and Discipling." Includes contact work, club, campaigners, and camp.

  • Coordinate Summer Staff assignments for first-year NGL students with divisional camp properties and participating regions.
  • Primary point of contact for coordination of Service Leadership Project (SLP) divisional site (if applicable).
  • Assist the SVP to ensure that regional plans are in place to grow Young Life in the division, especially as it relates to increasing the diversity of youth in the division.
  • Participate in NGL training timeline per annual plan.

Ministry Support - "Taking care of business." Includes accounting, administration, internal communication, data management, and strategic planning.

  • Help assist in a yearly NGL divisional strategic plan and initiatives. Review these plans and initiatives regularly.
  • Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management, adhering to all Young Life policies and procedures.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to everyone within the scope of ministry.
  • Develop an appropriate system for reporting expense report responsibilities and the use of divisional NGL funds using Young Life accounting applications.
  • Accept both short and long-term assignments and projects.
  • Communicate regularly with NGL Student Staff, NGL Area Supervisors, Regional Director, and the divisional SVP for individual support, problem-solving, planning, encouragement, vision, common events, and goals.
  • Actively involved in mid and end-of-year evaluations and reporting processes of NGL Ministry within the division.
  • Collect monthly Scorecard updates from NGL Student Staff.
  • Lead scheduled CMI reporting process for each NGL-led ministry.
  • Send monthly training summary to supervisors.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to a growing relationship with Christ.
  • Ability to communicate Young Life’s mission and the vision for NGL.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task, adapt and be flexible.
  • Proven relational and leadership skills with both adolescents and adults.
  • Past or current involvement in Young Life ministry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel as the job requires.
  • Completed Cultural Intelligence certification Level 1 & 2 (preferred).
  • Proven leadership in developing diverse staff and ministries.

Notes:

  • This position is open to remote work within the Northeastern Divisions, which include Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
  • There will be some travel required for this position
  • The salary range for a full-time position is anywhere from $5,950 - $8,131 per month or $71,397 - $95,000 per year.
