Senior Campaign Director ​

Essential Duties:

Overarching responsibilities:

  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of donors and prospects for major gifts to YoungLife, focusing on Texas and other markets as assigned ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​
  • Collaborate with volunteer engagement team and related partners, assisting with online platforms as needed, to continually fine-tune communication strategies to build an informed volunteer/donor culture more focused on supporting YoungLife. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​
  • Collaborate with Chief Development Officer in developing impactful philanthropic agendas—consistent with Young Life’s strategic plans—for prospective major gifts from constituents.
  • Participate fully in Young Life’s prospect management, discovery/qualification visits, and related prospect development programs. ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​ ​
  • Assist, as requested by the Chief Development Officer, with programs to increase donor giving through all functions, events and programs, and other strategic means.
  • As directed by the Chief Development Officer, establish yearly measurable goals/objectives, related metrics for new gift commitments secured, proposals made, new prospects qualified, and prospect meetings held.
  • Collaborate with other Development team members and volunteers to inspire trust and encourage creative thinking to significantly increase donors and private gifts to YoungLife.
  • Implement strategic initiatives as directed by leadership, to grow or improve the platform as a whole.
To successfully execute the above responsibilities the Campaign Director will need to execute in the following area:

Campaign Management

  • Oversee, plan and execute all supporting activities for the campaign such as donor events, communications strategies (including communication with appropriate staff), recognition programs, and other related activities and materials.
  • Recruit, engage, and equip volunteers serving on the Executive Campaign Committee regularly.
  • Create and maintain campaign timeline and progress management.
  • Conduct a feasibility study if applicable (internally or in partnership with an outside consultant).
  • Successfully funded annual goals of the campaign to include both no and legacy commitments.
  • Oversee a timely “thank you” and donor information and appreciation program for all campaigns.

Case Materials for Campaign

  • Oversee the creation and implementation of a case for the campaign and maintain up-to-date versions.
  • The case should include a “give now” and “give in the future” (legacy) option
  • Gift Plan based on the Engagement List
  • Creation of supporting documents for specific initiatives and /or strategies

Database Management (YL Connect/CRM)

  • “If it’s not in YL connect, it didn’t happen” – to include visits, phone calls, and pertinent information as it relates to relationship-centered engagement.
  • Create a Campaign, as well as, opportunities for the proper # of individuals to complete your annual goals as well as overarching Campaign goals.
  • Target High/Target Lows are inserted with “next step” strategies.
  • Keep campaigns up to date in the YLConnect database.

Working with the Field - "Adding Value"

  • Come alongside SVP to bring support and value to their overall divisional strategy
  • Provide counsel to the regional directors in their regional campaigns.
  • Serving them with reports to maximize their fundraising efforts (lapsed donor reports, top donor reports, etc.)

List Work - Analytics, Prospects, Qualifying

  • Goal 150 inside of the Engagement List. The engagement list should include those at each stage of the relationship-centered engagement process (identification, qualification, cultivation, invitation, and stewardship).
  • Work on qualifying additional prospects identifying if they have capacity and affinity.
  • Be able to produce this list in front of ECC and staff regularly

Procedures and Policies within Young Life and Development

  • Work with direct supervisor, CDO, monthly
  • Attend fall meeting at Trail West, Development Summit
  • Attend monthly CD Zoom meetings

Portfolio Management - Communications, Visits, Asks

  • Develop prospects and when appropriate act as a primary caller or a secondary caller available to participate in donor solicitation meetings.
  • Achieve monthly goals numerically – communicate, visit, and ask.

Ongoing Responsibilities

  • Provide counsel to the regional directors in their regional campaigns.
  • Develop prospects and when appropriate act as a primary caller or a secondary caller available to participate in donor solicitation meetings.
  • Participate in the recruiting of the needed committees and volunteer positions. Lead, train, supervise, support, sustain and thank this staff so that they succeed in their work.
  • A volunteer Executive Committee led by a chair to raise major gifts ($50K and higher)
  • A Steering Committee of staff and volunteers to guide campaign operations
  • Plan and carry out all supporting activities for the campaign such as donor events, communications strategies (including communication with appropriate staff), recognition programs, and other related activities and materials.
  • Work with the Director of Gift Planning, along with representatives of the National Christian Foundation, in implementing the gift planning strategy to reach the goal.
  • Coordinate campaign activities with other Young Life development entities (e.g. area and regional fundraising efforts, other development initiatives, etc.).
  • Submit the updated database to the CDO monthly.
  • Submit the updated campaign timetable to the CDO monthly.
  • Submit the database prospect report to the CDO in June to support the goal for the following fiscal year.
  • Work closely with the executive assistant to the CDO for any assistance and to keep the CDO apprised of all campaign developments and issues in a timely fashion.
  • Establish the campaign office and systems to support campaign operations.

Job Specific-Working Conditions

  • This position is remote within the state of Texas. ​

Qualifications:

  • Volunteer or staff person of Young Life (preferred).
  • Must be available to work full-time for the undetermined duration of the campaign.
  • Capable of successfully overseeing the elements of donor management and follow-through.
  • Tested and proved in environments that demand proactivity and punctuality in meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to research and study for speaking and presentations.
  • Ability to work effectively with major donors and close on major gifts.
  • Ability to accurately develop and manage a budget.
  • Ability to work as a team member with other Young Life staff and volunteers

Education:

  • BA degree preferred
