Description:
Canby Young Life is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated area director to continue the rich history of ministry in our community. The position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy to reach kids in this growing area. The current staff consists of a part-time area administrator, a highly motivated group of committee members, and a growing team of volunteer leaders. We are looking for a strong leader to grow our single high school ministry and further develop the WyldLife program.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and organizational level.
- Create and actively lead in direct ministry with kids.
- Supervise, support and develop staff.
- Develop and sustain student leaders and adult volunteers.
- In coordination with the committee, develop and execute the vision and strategic plan.
- Actively partner with the committee on area financial development.
- Participation and leadership in annual staff events and training.
- Participate in the recruiting, training and organizing of the committee — developing subcommittee leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Christ-like character built on the reliance on the Holy Spirit to help lead and guide.
- A passion for reaching disinterested kids and calling others to that mission.
- A vision and plan to grow current ministries to reach kids, leaders, committee and parents.
- Ability to build, train, recruit and grow teams of people (student leaders, adult leaders and committee members).
- Proven leadership skills, strong organization skills and a great communicator to kids and adults.
- Knows, understands and is immersed in the culture of today’s teens.
- Spiritually and emotionally healthy and willing to get the support/mentors needed to maintain.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak to large groups.
- Completion of Area Director Training.
- Able to meet and manage deadlines.

Notes:
Preferred Skills
Three years of experience on Young Life staff (or equivalent), understanding budgets and assisting with finances.
