Description:

A full-time area director (high school and middle school) to lead current and new ministries in Wood River Valley/Sun Valley, Idaho. If you are looking to grow God’s kingdom, this is the place to do it! The opportunity for growth is great as Young Life has been present in Wood River Valley for more than 20 years. Wood River Valley has a population of 23,000 people and includes four incorporated cities — Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum and Sun Valley. It is home to the famous Sun Valley Resort and also contains a large part of the Sawtooth National Forest and the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. In addition to the fabulous skiing in the winter, the Wood River Valley is also known for the variety of outdoor recreational opportunities available in the summer. Travelers in the summer enjoy hunting, fishing, kayaking, white water rafting, hiking, biking, backpacking, hot springs and wildlife viewing in and around the area. The Sawtooth National Recreation Area is home to spectacular high mountain peaks, beautiful rivers and streams, and meadows of wildflowers.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, lead and execute the area’s fundraising strategy and ensure excellence in communication to donors.
  • Raise the necessary funds to carry out the ministry vision for the local area, keeping the area consistently in surplus (the goal is a one-month cash reserve minimum).
  • Lead people in our community by maintaining your own healthy relationship with Jesus.
  • Grow the current ministry (a great deal of work has already been done). One high school ministry is ready for leadership and growth.
  • Model excellence in all areas of the job description and execution of Young Life’s 5 C’s (club, Campaigners, camp, contact work, committee) — especially contact work.
  • Create a vision/standard for the rest of the area.

  • Love Jesus and love kids.
  • Able to recruit, build and mobilize the adult committee and volunteers.
  • Lead by example in area fundraising and personal fundraising (Relationship-Centered Engagement).
  • Fantastic deliverer of Young Life’s vision.
  • Desire and heart to not just go deep in the Young Life community but also the local Christian community.
  • Hunger, humility and hustle.

Experience and Expertise

  • Deep love for Christ, as well as kids and young adults.
  • Love for the mission of Young Life and the incarnational relationship-based approach.
  • Highly motivated self-starter.
  • Excellent at casting vision and inviting others into the mission of what God is doing in Wood River Valley.
  • Former Young Life experience.
  • Proven relational and leadership skills with youth and adults.
  • Proficiency in recruiting, training and leading adults.
  • Fundraising ability.
  • Theological strength to lead through complicated issues.
  • Bachelor's degree.
