Staff Associate I — Sonoma, CA

We are looking for someone experienced and enthusiastic to bring renewed vigor to Young Life’s well established ministry in this historic city in Northern California. Sonoma is in the heart of the famous Sonoma Valley wine-making region, and along with its wine, it is also well known for its art galleries, spas and beautiful 19th-century buildings. But Sonoma also has...kids! There are three high schools in Sonoma County, holding thousands of students with whom we are excited to share the good news of Jesus! Young Life has long-standing connections in these schools, and the current part-time staff and volunteer team leaders are eager to have a full-time staff member join them in serving the kids of this lovely city.

The ideal candidate would be a gifted leader who is ready to jump in! He or she would have the heart and skills to love kids, train and inspire volunteers and share his/her passion for Jesus effectively.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead, recruit and train a volunteer leader team and help develop club, discipleship groups and lead camp trips through the summer and school season.
  • Engage and direct the Area Board.
  • Model excellence in contact work, club and Campaigners.
  • Set plan to assist in developing area and county wide strategy for ministry.
  • Participate in monthly regional staff meetings.
  • Raise financial support as directed and maintain good donor care practices with personal and local donor base.
  • Plan and execute local fundraising events under direction of supervisor and Area Board.
  • Manage local area finances with stewardship, accountability and transparency.
  • Actively participate in local church community and reach out to schools to develop relationships.
  • Serve on summer assignment at Young Life camp each summer (up to 4 weeks).

Qualifications:

  • Experience in direct ministry with students.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • College Degree preferred.
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions of a camp including: heat/cold, dirt, long hours and the physical demands. Staff person must be able to handle these conditions.
