i100 Project Manager

Mission & Authority

This position is responsible for project management for the i100 Program. The i100 Program works with executive level leaders to help them equip their staff and volunteers to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow deeper in their faith. This position will work collaboratively with the i100 Program Coordinator and the Architecture Team to accomplish i100 objectives.

Program Description

The i100 project is designed to develop the top 100 international Young Life leaders who are participating in the Mission’s international strategic plan for the next eight years of ministry. The experience will develop ministry foundation and also develop participants to be candidates for greater responsibility and roles within the Mission. By working inter-divisionally, leaders will be able to laterally learn from one another as they all strive to make their ministries culturally relevant to their context. This project has and will continue to require deep mission-wide collaboration. It will also create greater consistency of language and core operating mechanisms across divisions, along with unity in the Mission. As such, the project requires a Program Coordinator and a Project Manager. The Project Manager position will perform the following duties and responsibilities, with an emphasis on, or backdrop of, the following outcomes or objectives from the program - healthy spirituality. leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, ministry support, vision and senior leadership.

​Essential Duties:

Spiritual Development - “Following Jesus” includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships.

  • Maintain a genuine and sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word and the disciplines of personal and corporate prayer.
  • Seek out and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community, that lead to a vibrant spiritual life.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life Ministry communities.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer and Scripture reading.
  • Participate in, and lead others, in Scripture, Bible studies, small groups of Christian community and faith, Christian ministry matters.

Project Manage and Help Coordinate the i100 program

  • Define project requirements – with Program Coordinator, CLO and GSVPs.
  • Evaluate and provide recommendations on feasibility of potential solutions (including cost/benefit analyses) as this program is being developed annually while aligning with Young Life’s core missional and theological values.
  • Initiate project work as directed by Program Coordinator and (G)SVPs. Implement work in accordance with project needs.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in project management process.
  • Work with the Program Coordinator, (G)SVPs, international divisional reps, and various executive level leaders and extended team members, as well as representatives of the Learning and Leadership Development department to implement and execute on agreed milestones, goals and deliverables for the i100 program and event(s).
  • Provide administrative support identified in the i100 Program Coordinator position, including:
o Maintaining the program schedule and calendar, including logistics and planning for the program, which involves scheduling, organizing and executing Christian mission work around the world in various Divisions, time zones and languages
o Provide primary phone/email or other digital/online communications and support for the program
o Coordinate travel, meeting arrangements and conference calls
o Primary responsibility for program analytics
o Compose and/or proofread a variety of letters, documents and reports as needed
o Coordinate the planning preparation and execution of the events
o Track participation and development/progress of participants during and after the event(s)
o Create, maintain and/or analyze excel spreadsheets for accounting reports
o “Coordinate with Legal Services on visa strategy and support concerning i100 gatherings and attendees, furnishing administrative details necessary for visa applications and similar processes for cross-border travel
o Presence at group gatherings/events to ensure travel/arrival/departure details, lodging, troubleshooting of issues that occur during transit and presence during events to assist with needs that arise
  • Provide primary project management, administrative work, work flow and coordination efforts, with the i100 leadership for successful program development and event activities, including the following:
o Supervise project activities including initiation, planning, monitoring/controlling and closeout
o Facilitate project management processes and documentation throughout the lifecycle of the project
o Manage project budget, scope and schedule
o Recruit project teams and organize team meetings
o Implement quality planning and management
o Identify, report on and respond to project completion processes and objectives
o Facilitate and assist in implementing a project communications plan, ensuring that all documentation is properly completed
o Evaluate performance of project teams and team members, and conduct post-implementation project reviews
o High degree of interaction and coordination at all levels of the organization
o Make presentations when required
o Monitor and track program accounts and coordinate with architecture team on budget

Job-Specific Working Condition​s

  • Office (remote work is acceptable) environment with anticipated travel up to 40% for the next six months; future travel to be determined and agreed.
  • The right candidate would preferably live in one of Young Life's international divisions due to the role's involvement with these ministries.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree and experience consistent with organizational preparation for a program of this magnitude. ​

Experience Required for the Job

  • Commitment to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Past or current involvement in local, regional, National and Global ministry with Young Life.
  • Understanding of Young Life organizationally, preferably with staff ministry experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the Gospel and train others accordingly.
  • International ministry experience with Young Life.
  • Multi-National and Multi-Cultural awareness with high CQ and demonstrated ability to work in various international ministry contexts.
  • Multiple languages with written/spoken proficiency.
  • Proven relational skills with a variety of levels and types of Young Life staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong emphasis on grammar.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, and self-disciplined at work.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Competency with Microsoft Office programs including Access, Publisher, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability and sensitivity to communicate with people from other countries and cultures.
  • Must be customer-service oriented, maintaining a warm, positive, personable manner with flexibility.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, logical decision-making and the ability to work independently as well as in groups.
  • Problem-solve with ability and history of initiative and completing projects.
  • Utilization of Map-Tree-List as core operating philosophy and mechanism.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with event planning and oversight of major events. ​
