International Theological Director
Mission & Authority
This role leads the development and execution of Young Life’s international theology initiative by integrating theological content development, leading key faculty and working groups, and overseeing technology, logistics, and communication. This role ensures alignment with Learning & Leadership (L&L) strategies and maintains fiscal responsibility across all related activities.
Essential Duties:
Spiritual Development
- Develop and follow a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life.
- Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
- Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
- Lead teams and individuals in global theology and development.
Leadership Development
- Source, select and lead the International Theology Intiative team.
- Help international staff integrate global theology thinking and practices into all aspects of leadership development in partnership with Senior Field Leadership.
- Lead the 3 Core Faculty team and the Field Working Group team.
- Facilitate Lateral Leadership engagement.
- Serve on the International L&L Lead Team.
- Oversee Adjunct Professor contributions.
Ministry
- Create and curate international theology content and materials for mission-wide offerings.
- Create curriculum and ensure global theology learning opportunities.
- Supervise the design, development and delivery of international theology offerings for staff and volunteers.
Resource Development
- Oversee the development of a broad-base of funding sources in coordination with senior leadership.
- Manage executive budget for international theology and cultivate transformational relationships with financial partners
- Engage fund-raising tools to address personal support funding needs.
Ministry Support
- Provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication to everyone involved in ministry.
- Manage relationship with DataWise.
- Ensure integration of Global Theology with Learning & Leadership (L&L).
- Set yearly goals and regularly review with supervisor.
- Provide reporting as needed to iLT, MLT, Board of Trustees, or other Young Life entities when called upon.
- Complete portfolio assignments and projects as requested by supervisor and/or other Leadership.
Other Responsibilities:
- Ensure integration of Global Theology with Learning & Leadership (L&L)
- Ensure integrated communication across field and functional teams
- Meet regularly with the international L&L team to maintain relational connections and keep the team of DLM’s well informed on global theology offerings and developments
Job-Specific Working Conditions

Qualifications:
Education
- Masters in Theology/Divinity or related field required.
- Post Graduate degree preferred in related field.
Experience Required for the Job
- Active and flourishing spiritual journey
- Minimum ten (10) years of Young Life experience, including leading and managing complex projects or programs with outcome-focused deliverables, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum three (3) years of managerial experience
- Extensive international experience and engagement
- Familiarity and comfort with a wide range of church denominations, cultures and expressions
- Strong understanding of church history, practices, and ecumenical expertise.
