Learning Manager - Learning & Leadership

Mission & Authority

In accordance with the vision and strategy set forth by the Learning and Leadership Department and in cooperation with mission/departmental leadership, this individual will serve as the Divisional Learning Manager. They will work to equip, support and develop Young Life staff to more effectively fulfill the mission of introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.

​Essential Duties:

Spiritual Development - "Following Jesus." Includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships.

  • Maintain personal spiritual health by regular devotion, solitude, and prayer.
  • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines, in the context of active participation in a church community.
  • Hospitable, Christ-like attitude of servant leadership.
  • Solid biblical and theological foundation.
  • Strong spiritual, emotional health and evidence of spiritual growth

Divisional Learning Support -​ "Taking care of business." Includes internal communication, data management, and strategic planning.

  • Ensure core values, leadership formation, Young Life Mission, Vision, Values, Methods, and operational learning are focused and sequenced for all staff and volunteers in each division.
  • Equip, support, and partner with Divisional Learning Managers by being present, as requested, in regional and divisional learning spaces in order to support missional priorities, focus, and alignment.
  • Support Divisional Learning Managers and mission-wide priorities toward integration, creating a culture of learning where every person aspires to be an effective leader, people developer, and continuous learner.
  • Coordinate operational and create and facilitate missional priority training and learning experiences in order to promote and support implementation in YL staff and volunteers. (CQ certification, YL Connect etc.)
  • Support Functional Ministries and Divisional Learning events as requested and aligned with SVP’s/VP’s and Learning and Leadership to build a learning culture.
  • Research and create ways to track, support, and inform learning for all divisional staff. (Accreditation, commissioning, learning culture etc.)
  • Build bridges and act as liaison to functional departments/ministries and missional priorities.
  • Responsible for creating a framework for operational training that best supports staff and volunteers.
  • Co-facilitate implementation of Kirkpatrick Assessment Model

Learning and Leadership Department Support -​ "Equipping leaders, committee and staff." Includes events, training, and department alignment.

  • Serve as cohort facilitator for learning experiences.
  • Serve on assignments as leader of mission-wide learning opportunities and events.
  • As directed, serve as guide support in the area of expertise to mission-wide learning opportunities.
  • Participate in certifications and expertise training in order to support culture and divisional staff. (Theological, CQ certification, operational training etc.)
  • Participate in regularly scheduled trainings and calls that support missional focus and alignment.
  • Participate in calls with Sr. Director of Learning and Leadership to ensure missional priorities, focus, and alignment as directed.
  • Serve as support to develop and align mission-wide curriculum and content creation.

Job-Specific Working Condition​s

  • Some Travel required
  • Remote within the US of hire
  • The anticipated salary for this position can range from $71,397-$97,570 depending on relevant experience and education. ​

Qualifications:

Education

  • College degree required

Experience Required for the Job

  • Understands and demonstrates the mission values and ethos of Young Life.
  • Understands and can equip staff in the skills needed for successful Young Life ministry.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in web-based training preferred.
  • Evidenced ability towards continual improvement.
  • Learner and growth mindset.

​ Preferred Experience

  • Certified in CQ, CQ TTT, and Unconscious Bias
  • Assessing for learning by utilizing the Kirkpatrick Model
  • Familiar with competency-based learning
