Mission & Authority

The Manager of Camping Administration will provide training, guidance and leadership to field administrative staff, camping services administration, camp administrative managers, camp managers and camping coordinators. This position will serve as the primary agent for creating, communicating and evaluating the consistent use of administrative systems, standards, policies and procedures across all Young Life Camping operations.

​Essential Duties:

Spiritual Formation:​ Intentionally provide opportunities for staff to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus.

  • Participate in opportunities for growing deeper in your relationship with Jesus.
  • With direction from supervisor, develop an annual personal spiritual growth plan.
  • Create and foster an environment where camping administration staff have opportunities for ongoing spiritual development, including execution of their personal spiritual growth plan.

Attentive Hospitality: Equip servant leaders who anticipate and respond to the needs of our guests, staff and vendors, through Christ-like service.

  • Establish a posture of service within Camping Administration that anticipates guest needs and responds with professionalism through intentional decisions and systems.
  • Support camp managers in interviewing administrative manager candidates.
  • Build a culture within Camping Administration in which staff feel cared for by the availability and support of the manager of Camping Administration.
  • Supervise and train the Camping Services inquiry response team to respond to all customer groups regarding Camping schedules, systems, policies and procedures.

Interpersonal Relationships: Help build relationships that reflect the character of God with guests, staff, vendors and neighbors to foster healthy community.

  • Ensure Camping Administration staff demonstrate the importance of their interpersonal relationships with field staff, camp staff and teammates and promote a healthy community.
  • Provide ongoing leadership to administrative managers (in conjunction with the camp manager) as it relates to job performance, skill development and training.
  • Maintain regular contact with all administrative managers to keep them aligned and informed as a team.
  • Partner with Information Services and Camping IT in the ongoing development and implementation of various systems and applications pertinent to Camping Administration.

Comprehensive Stewardship: Manage with integrity the finances, people, buildings and equipment that have been entrusted to our ministry.

  • Develop and equip staff to participate in comprehensive stewardship in Camping Administration.
  • Identify and create new tools and systems to support camp managers and administrative managers in their management and leadership of the Camping Administration department.
  • Provide documentation, communication and accountability for administrative managers regarding policies and procedures related to Camping Administration.
  • Coordinate and achieve understanding, acceptance and support with national Camping leadership on various administrative initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the director of administration and food service to create and communicate an annual plan and five-year strategic plan.
  • Create and maintain Camping Administration content on the Young Life staff website.
  • Create and maintain a strategic planning document for the Camping Administrative Services team.
  • Demonstrate high-level and ground-level understanding of camp specific systems and tools.

Talent Development: Through a consistent and accountable evaluation process, we identify and provide opportunities for staff in continuing education, leadership development, career-pathing and cross-training.

  • Demonstrate a desire to grow through engagement in the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process and participation in training and development opportunities.
  • Develop, standardize, implement and maintain an annual training process for administrative managers that includes in-person and virtual training.
  • Provide leadership, vision, direction and support to the department lead team and resource coach team.
  • Perform yearly evaluations for those under supervision.
  • Equip Camping coordinators, camp managers and administrative managers in expectations of running a Young Life office.
  • Develop all levels of staff in Camping Administration to help ensure a strong department pipeline.

  • Develop, document, evaluate and lead standards of operation and procedures in the area of camp administration and for field-related camping services.
  • Establish and maintain the Camping Administration department disciplines for camp managers and administrative managers.
  • Maintain the department’s administration manual.
  • Conduct quality assurance visits at various camps as necessary for training or evaluation purposes.
  • Engage mission wide partners to facilitate administration and collaboration on various projects.
  • Create and implement training plans, tools and documentation for all levels of the organizational structure.
  • Create and maintain systems to understand and visualize the yearly rhythm of Camping Services Administration.

Job-Specific Working Condition​s

  • Office environment at Camping Services in Colorado Springs, CO.
  • 10% travel required domestically.
  • This position has an anticipated salary range of $48,308-$60,462 annually depending on the relevant experience and education. ​

Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent working experience. ​

Experience Required for the Job

  • 4+ years in administration at the management level.
  • Proven leadership ability.
  • Young Life administrative experience highly recommended.
  • Professional demeanor and phone skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and creativity with Microsoft Office; advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to perform well amidst frequent interruptions in an open office setting.
  • Self-starter who works well as a part of a team and follows through on assigned tasks.
