Manager of Ex Patriate Services —Remote or Colorado Springs, CO
Mission/Authority
Manage the Expatriate Services of Young Life's International ministry. Provide Christ-centered leadership and support healthy infrastructures to ensure that the International ministry of Young Life is accountable, credible, and fruitful as it introduces adolescents to Jesus Christ and helps them grow in their faith.
Spiritual Leadership
- Manage Expatriate Services to reflect Young Life’s commitment that each and every staff person and volunteer should minister as a servant of God whose primary responsibility is proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Expatriate Services Department
Budget Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a budget for this position.
- Follow Taking Donors Seriously (TDS) procedures and standards for the budget mission unit.
- Oversee budget costs for all staff in Expatriate Services.
Special Projects
- When the Expatriate services department is asked to take on projects out of its normal scope, the Manager of Expatriate services could be expected to help work on and complete the project.
Stateside Sending Process
- New Staff Placement: Communicate with Senior Vice Presidents (SVPs), Vice Presidents (VPs), and Regional Directors (RDs) to establish international placement opportunities.
- Help facilitate final placement and deployment of U.S.-based international staff.
- Provide leadership for Cross-Cultural Orientation (CCO) Training
- Oversee promotion and awareness of Young Life International job opportunities.
Services for Young Life Expatriate Staff
- Manage administrative policies to guide Americans serving as staff and volunteers outside of the U.S.
- Liaison with Risk Management to ensure that there are appropriate guidelines for managing risk, health and safety of staff, staff candidates and volunteers (including Expeditions).
- Manage Expatriate tax processes and work with Financial Services on other issues related to Expatriate staff.
- Work with Human Resources to ensure employment issues are appropriately resolved.
- Problem solve general Expatriate issues.
Liaison with the International Field
- Participate as requested in meetings with International leadership.
- Maintain solid connectivity with International SVPs, VPs and RDs.
- As needed, make on-site visits to help understand issues and find solutions.
Qualifications for the Position:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Young Life Staff experience highly recommended
- General knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities for International ministry preferred
- Proven relational skills
- Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Works well with a team
- Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Demonstrated desire to learn and grow personally and professionally
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook
Working Conditions:
- Office environment or remote.
- Occasional travel.
- Availability to work with Staff in a variety of time zones.
