clearwater cove — General Program WORKER (Seasonal)

Lampe, MO

​This position will support the operational aspects of Camping Services as well as represent Young Life and the Camping department in a Christ-centered, relational and professional manner.

This is a seasonal position running from from August 11th through December 11th 2024.

Essential Duties:

Retail

  • Organize store and snack bar merchandise.
  • Operate Point of Sale system.
  • Make change.
  • Process end-of-shift store/snack bar reports.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the retail manager.

Guest Services

  • Assist with program needs and equipment including locating and constructing.
  • Be responsible for property tasks assigned such as firewood, pool, special maintenance projects, tours, camp prep and shutdown.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the guest services coordinator.
  • Work on the ropes course as a certified operator.

Housekeeping

  • Help turn over buildings in weekly housekeeping changeovers.
  • Uphold Young Life standards of cleanliness and proper cleaning procedures.
  • Perform housekeeping duties including cleaning bathrooms, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and any other cleaning as directed by the housekeeping supervisor.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the housekeeping supervisor.

Food Service

  • Participate in food preparation.
  • Perform calculations to determine proportions and measurements.
  • Set tables for meals.
  • Participate in meal clean-up including, but not limited to: bussing tables, washing pots, operating washing station, re-stocking equipment.
  • Participate in meal service.
  • Operate within Young Life sanitation standards.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the food service manager.

Landscaping/Maintenance

  • Empty trash bins located around property.
  • Sweep or use a backpack blower to clean porches, basketball court, etc.
  • Lawn maintenance including, but not limited to: cutting grass, weed-eating, planting, watering, etc.
  • Wash camp vehicles.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the sites and facilities superintendent.

Camp or Job Specific Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and perform other physical tasks such as stooping, reaching, pushing, squatting, kneeling, climbing, etc.
  • Will be exposed to cleaning chemicals.
  • Job responsibilities will include outdoor work, which will mean exposure to various changes in weather (cold, heat, rain and snow).
  • Job responsibilities may vary depending upon the critical needs of the property.
  • This job is seasonal full-time position from August 11th through December 11th 2024. This job is contingent on a fall 2024 school season at Clearwater Cove with a normal projected attendance. School season camping may be canceled at any time due to a variety of factors beyond Young Life's or Clearwater Cove's control.
  • Clearwater Cove is located in southwestern Missouri overlooking beautiful Table Rock Lake. Our camp staff live in nearby Kimberling City which has a small-town feel with shopping/entertainment options in Branson and Springfield. If you enjoy the outdoors there are many options available around Clearwater Cove. Our camp staff enjoy living in a close-knit community where we can work and play together. We strive to be a transformational community through Jesus committed to second-mile service and camping excellence.
  • On camp housing is available for all seasonal staff for the duration of the internship.
  • Communicate a sense of warm hospitality towards all staff and guests.
  • Work within the Housekeeping Department several days a week. Flexibility to help in other areas of Guest Services and other camp departments as needed.
  • Research, develop and implement specific projects as assigned by the Retail Manager.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma. (College degree or equivalent preferred.)
  • Experience Required for the Job
  • Demonstrate understanding of Young Life ministry, strategy and mission.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative.
  • Able to communicate a sense of warmth, hospitality and concern for all guests, vendors and staff.
  • Physical ability to perform duties of Challenge Course Operator, or lifeguard.

Qualifications and Experience Required for the Job:

  • Previous work experience required.
  • Previous or current involvement with Young Life preferred.

Notes:

Young Life is a relational ministry. Staff must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff. Responding to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner is important. All staff members are expected to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community and be able to work with and minister to the volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp.

A central portion of the CWC internship is the transformational camp, community experience. School season interns will live together in a lake-side house, and participate in a weekly Bible study implementing new spiritual practices.

This position is a seasonal full-time position. Employment dates are August 11-December 11, 2024. College degree or equivalent preferred.
