College Director, University of MD — College Park, MD

Description:

Young Life at University of Maryland (UMD) was launched more than 10 years ago. Over these past few years, outreach to students across the campus and student leadership was developed to include weekly student small groups, spring break outreach trips, regular outreach events, and a leadership team regularly spending time with students throughout the campus. The pandemic caused ministry on the campus to be shut down, and now we are ready to rebuild and relaunch ministry on the campus.

University of Maryland is the largest university in both the state of Maryland and the Washington metropolitan area, with more than 41,000 students (nearly 31,000 undergrad) representing all 50 states and 123 countries. The university undergraduate population is ethnically diverse with 47% being students of color (16% Asian, 13% African American, 10% Hispanic/Latino, 0.1% American Indian, 0.1% Pacific Islander, and 8% other race/ethnicity). Students attending University of Maryland have the ability to have world- wide impact and influence given their proximity to Washington, D.C.

The incoming college director will recruit and develop a team on the campus to relaunch outreach to students, as well as partner with our nearby area director, Lise Green-Reveus (area director for Montgomery County), to invest in developing current and future leaders on the campus.
