Staff Associate, Community Based — ​ Cincinnati, OH

Description:

This staff associate will be focused on ministry at one school. This person is expected to live in the community of ministry to partner with local stakeholders in this mission. We believe that a focused effort in one community leads to long-lasting partnerships with business, educational, and civic organizations and sustainable ministry in the inner-city context.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Formation:​ “Following Jesus” includes prayer and spiritual disciplines, fellowship, growth and health, and church relationships.

  • Agreement with Young Life's Statement of Faith.
  • Deepening walk with Christ and reliance on prayer. Your ministry is only as strong as your walk with Christ.
  • A model of personal integrity, Biblical maturity, and love for Christ.

Leadership Development: “Equipping leaders, committee, and staff” includes key volunteer care, recruiting, team building, and training, supervision, and vision casting.

  • Live in your community of ministry.
  • Recruit, train, and deploy volunteer leaders, committee members, and others, as well as lead team members to accomplish ministry goals.
  • Cast vision, supervise, and equip team members.
  • ​ This is a “player/coach role.” You will actively do ministry with students and supervise volunteers doing the same.

Resource Development:​ Developing a network of supportive relationships with business owners, schools, parents, and civic leaders in the community to ensure long-term sustainability of the ministry.

  • Vision to build community engagement in the ministry: schools, businesses, civic leadership.
  • Build trusting and professional relationships with adults in the community -- including donors, parents, and adult leaders -- and be willing to appropriately solicit their support.

Direct Ministry: “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp.

  • Utilize prayer and carry out all levels of contact work as the number one ministry tools for reaching kids. Contact work means showing up where students are (school, games, local restaurants, etc.).
  • Build and participate in a local club ministry and disciple kids.
  • Work with a volunteer team to grow ministry with senior high students within the city and develop a plan for reaching new communities.
  • Inspire and lead other people into effective direct ministry with kids.
  • Develop a tradition of fruitful camp trips in the fall and summer.

Ministry Support: “Taking care of business” includes administration, communication (internal), data management, and strategic plan.

  • Create an effective internal (core team) and external (community) communication plan that will encourage ministry growth and health.
  • Work in collaboration with other area staff and the regional director for meeting area and regional needs and goals.

Qualifications:

  • A disciple of Jesus Christ.
  • Agreement with Young Life's Statement of Faith.
  • Desire to live in their community of ministry to partner with local stakeholders in this mission.
