Young Life Spain is seeking a visionary, relational, and mission-driven Area Director to lead and expand ministry in Madrid, the most strategic city in Spain.

Young Life has already established meaningful ministry foundations in Madrid through relationships with students, volunteer leaders, churches, schools, and families. The focus of this role will be the Alameda area, where the Area Director will lead development by helping adolescents discover Jesus Christ through relational ministry while building a sustainable foundation for future growth.

Working alongside local staff, volunteers, churches, and ministry partners, this leader will establish strategic ministry presence, develop future leaders, and create pathways for long-term impact across the region.

The long-term vision is to expand ministry throughout central Madrid by building upon existing connections and developing new opportunities in schools and communities across the city.

What you'll do:

  • Lead and develop the ministry in the Alameda area.
  • Build relationships with adolescents through schools, community activities, camps, and ongoing discipleship.
  • Share the Gospel and provide follow-up and spiritual growth opportunities for students who choose to follow Christ.
  • Recruit, train, and shepherd volunteer leaders.
  • Develop and lead the Madrid Action Team.
  • Create and implement a strategic growth plan for the next three to five years.
  • Build and expand ministry throughout central Madrid by strengthening existing partnerships and developing new ministry opportunities in schools such as El Porvenir and other school connection where Young Life already has relationships and access.
  • Help identify and develop future ministry leaders for Young Life Spain.
  • Develop personal and local ministry support through fundraising and donor relationships.

Qualifications:

  • A mature and growing follower of Jesus Christ.
  • A proven commitment to evangelism, discipleship, and leadership development.
  • A passion for reaching adolescents with the Gospel.
  • Strong relational and leadership skills.
  • Experience building teams, developing volunteers, and creating ministry momentum.
  • A strategic thinker who can cast vision and execute plans.
  • A gifted communicator who can connect with students, churches, parents, and donors.
  • A willingness to raise personal and ministry support.
  • Fluency in Spanish and a strong understanding of the Spanish cultural context.

Preferred Experience

  • Pastoral, church planting, youth ministry, campus ministry, or evangelistic ministry experience.
  • Experience developing leaders and multiplying ministry.
  • Experience building partnerships with churches and community organizations.
  • Fundraising and donor development experience.

Benefits:

Housing supplements and cost of living adjustments help make living overseas affordable for international staff. In addition, staff may raise funds and be reimbursed for the purchase of a vehicle, an annual personal trip to see family, pre-K through 12th grade private school education for dependent children, language school, moving expenses, and a one-time bonus of up to two-months’ salary.
