International Communications Specialist — APAC

(Part-Time)

Mission/Authority

This role will help engage and train a team of communication specialists to inform and engage country field staff, country/staff sponsors, Shared Adventures participants, donors, friends, and social media followers.

Responsibilities:

Communications Support & Storytelling

  • Collect and edit stories from the field to use in various communications pieces ranging from Emma to videos to donor proposals.
  • Upload and catalogue photography and video assets into G-suite folders.
  • Travel approximately twice per year to collect stories, photos, and videos from the field, and offer support to in-country communication specialists.
  • Work with Divisional Communication Coordinator to develop strategies for resource sharing and best practices within the division.
  • Assist on various development/communication pieces and strategies including staff sponsorship.
  • Work with the Divisional Communications Coordinator to equip and grow teams of communication specialists in the field.
  • Volunteering with the local area is strongly encouraged.

Content Creation:

  • Offer design support for divisional communication pieces, specifically staff, country, divisional cases and other divisional reports.
  • Offer support in video editing, presentation creation, and email templates.
  • Be familiar with design programs like Canva, Photoshop, and Illustrator to help edit.
  • Assist in event content creation and preparation if necessary.

Social Media

  • Prepare and post social media 3x week in conjunction with communications team including intern(s).
  • Help maintain the divisional Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube accounts.

Website Support

  • Maintain current divisional Brandcast website, making edits as necessary.
  • Help maintain country one-page sites and assist individual countries in their transition to field-owned site if necessary.
  • Work with communication team to maintain AP Staff Resources website.

Qualifications:

​Education

  • Undergraduate degree strongly preferred but not required.

Qualifications Required for the Job

  • Required to live in the Asia Pacific Division. We are looking for a person who has been immersed in the Asian/Pacific culture.
  • Previous Young Life experience is strongly preferred.
  • Fluent English writing and speaking skills.
  • Strategic, creative thinker.
  • Ability to execute moving parts of a project.
  • Excellent writer and content developer.
  • Photography and videography skills are preferred.
  • Works well independently, with a team and across functions.
  • Ability to work well with deadlines.
  • Attention to detail; sweats the small stuff when required.
  • Flexible; willing to do any part of production process.
  • Willingness to fundraise a portion of budget.

Working Conditions

  • Home office environment with stable, reliable internet.
  • May work from anywhere in the Asia Pacific Division.
  • Some travel - Other Asia Pacific countries for meetings/trips.
  • This position will require some fundraising (including salary and benefits).
