Sponsorship Coordinator - Asia Pacific

Mission/Authority

Under direction of and in partnership with the Divisional Campaign Director for Asia Pacific, implement and oversee a comprehensive strategy to enhance the mission partner experience of Sponsors and Country Encouragement Tea members for Young Life Asia Pacific. Role includes providing leadership, creativity, tenacity and expertise to more deeply engage our Sponsors and team members in Young Life’s mission to Asia Pacific to help fulfill the promise of engaging donors as full mission partners.

Responsibilities:

Engage Sponsors with their Sponsored Staff/Country Representatives

  • Communication with potential new sponsors:
  • Share sponsorship vision and answer any questions
  • Manage onboarding process:
  • Communicate giving instructions
  • Prepare and send a custom welcome packet for each sponsor using standard template
  • Host a Zoom call between sponsor and Asia Pacific staff to introduce and help them become acquainted, facilitating an initial conversation, which should conclude with discussion of plans for future communications between the sponsor and staff and prayer.

Manage Sponsor appreciation efforts:

  • Coordinate annual sponsor thank you note process, which includes requesting, collecting and tracking of thank you, notes from sponsored staff to include with end of year gift
  • Create and send general sponsor thank you notes for end of year gift
  • Coordinate with divisional Campaign Director to determine and order end of year sponsor gifts.
  • Assist Asia Pacific staff as a coach and accountability partner to develop relationship through communication with their sponsor:
  • Send monthly to quarterly reminders to all sponsored staff (email and text via WhatsApp group) encouraging them to send an update to their sponsors
  • Offer tips, encouragement and coaching whenever necessary
  • Follow up with each sponsored staff on a quarterly basis to assess the quality and consistency of their communication with their sponsor
  • Identify staff that have not been communicating on a regular basis and check in with them
  • Report to Country Directors as needed
  • Develop sponsorship communication processes in harmony with divisional communications coordinator and innovate new strategies for implementation:
  • Create and implement group trainings
  • Consistently communicate clear expectations for staff

Maintain and Develop Sponsorship Program

  • Create and Maintain tracking of sponsorships on necessary platforms
  • Send annual statements to sponsors showing total giving amount for the fiscal year
  • Create and update sponsorship materials as needed

Country Encouragement Teams

  • Work with the Campaign Director to plan, develop and implement Country Encouragement Team
  • Introduce and coach formation of the teams to engage in the “5 P’s”
  • Participate: Regular Team meetings and activities, encouragement actions for Field staff
  • Pray: For Country leadership, staff, and volunteer, kids, and camps
  • Process: Determine what the calendar of events and methods of encouragement will be each year
  • Promote: Share stories, host an awareness event, engage your local church, etc.
  • Pay: Make a monthly or annual financial commitment to the country budget
  • Track with CET
  • Maintaining and updating Camp Campaign goal tracking
  • Tracking all camp giving – full camp sponsorships, other fundraising efforts and general giving

Personal Fundraising

  • Develop, communicate with and care for personal financial partners
  • Raise personal network support to meet or exceed annual goals.

Measures of Success

  • Excellent and consistent staff-initiated communication by email and other communication methods
  • Sustained sponsor involvement in Young Life Asia Pacific
  • Build sustainable and streamlined communications sent to sponsors throughout the calendar year
  • Staff feels well supported, equipped and encouraged to communicate regularly with their sponsors
  • Growth of Asia Pacific CET, more donors feel connected and engaged with the field staff and on the ground ministry

Working Conditions:

  • This is a position that will require fundraising to support salary, benefits and other directly related costs such as travel and training.
  • It is expected this employee will work from a remote home office, from a local Young Life office, or from the Young Life Service Center in Colorado Springs, CO.

Skills and Experience Required for the Job:

  • Excellent communication abilities, both written and oral
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Ability to interface with a sophisticated donor audience
  • Deep knowledge of Young Life practices and culture
  • Deep desire to serve in a Christian mission
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others within and across the organization
  • Proven ability to work with the utmost of confidentiality
  • Mastery of Office Suite, and proven ability to learn new software programs
  • Partner with the Campaign Director and APAC SVP to make continuous improvements
  • Known to be filled with the Holy Spirit and wisdom
  • Be flexible and be a learner
  • Be a team player and work well remotely finding way to keep connected with a disbursed team in the US and in Asia Pacific
  • Be able to laugh and take joy in life, even on hard days
  • Pray and listen to the Lord
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Strong knowledge of Young Life
