Young Life South Korea is looking for an enthusiastic, visionary leader with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for building community to fulfill the role of a pioneering staff associate working with local Korean middle school and high school students. Ideally, this person would have a history with Young Life and experience leading students and running a club ministry. This person will work with our country developer on outreach to local Korean students and to launch local Young Life for the first time in Seoul.

Young Life South Korea is just getting started, and this position represents a historic opportunity to be part of launching something big with lots of opportunity to participate in the development of a startup ministry in a significant global city.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and professional level.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
  • Model excellence in contact work (15-20 hours per week), club, Campaigners and camping to other leaders.
  • Learn to recruit and train new leaders to build a relationship team that reflects the community.
  • Develop a plan to train, disciple and develop volunteer leaders.
  • Work with the leadership team to raise revenue and financial support for the agreed upon personal budget and to maintain good donor-care practices.
  • Support the resource development of the area; help to meet with existing and new donors and participate in area fundraising events and/or other opportunities toward the goal of financial independence for Young Life in the area.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to donor partners.
  • Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders and donors for area records.
  • Participate in or lead staff events and training events as required.
  • Plan and organize any outreach and/or Campaigners camps.

Qualifications:

  • Young Life volunteer experience required; staff or team leader experience preferred.
  • The ideal candidate would have experience working in an educational environment or equivalent volunteer experience.
  • Adventurous and adaptable with strong cross-cultural acumen. Must be able to relate, work and build community in a multicultural, multilingual area.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate vision and to recruit, develop and multiply leaders.
  • Ability to identify and develop fundraising opportunities within the local community.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Strong written and verbal communicator both in English and Korean required.
  • Must maintain confidentiality.
  • Must see herself or himself living and doing ministry in Seoul for a minimum of three years.
