Young Life Portugal is seeking a college coordinator/director to help develop and grow our mission to university students in the Lisbon area.

Lisbon is home to more than 30 universities and more than 50,000 students. Young Life Portugal has a growing ministry with university students, and there is a great opportunity to expand this reach. In the Lisbon area, a number of these universities teach in English, and the vision is to reach both international and national students.

This position has the opportunity to work alongside a veteran Young Life area director and a growing and active Young Life community.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute Young Life’s mission to “introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith” through the power of relationships.
  • Be an active part of the Young Life Portugal community.
  • Lead the university ministry including growing a volunteer leader team.
  • Spend significant time each week building relationships with university students.
  • Plan and lead weekly programmatic events for students — both outreach (club) and discipleship (Campaigners).
  • Assist the area director in the ongoing recruiting, leading and training of volunteer leaders.
  • Lead multiple summer and school season camp trips, retreats and mission trips.
  • Together with the area director, raise funds and awareness of Young Life in the area.

Qualifications:

  • A deep love for Jesus and passion for outreach ministry.
  • Ability and desire to relate to college students.
  • Strong Christian faith, knowledge of God's Word and ability to lead others to Christ.
  • Proven track record of self-starting and taking initiative.
  • Ability and desire to maintain a varying schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to build, train, recruit and grow teams of people.
  • Proven ability to raise personal and ministry support.
  • Possess high capacity and high energy level.
  • Comfortable relating to and leading adults of all ages.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Young Life or college ministry experience is strongly preferred.
