Description:
Northern Kentucky Young Life Capernaum is looking for an area director with a unique opportunity for a ministry rebuild. Capernaum has more than 10 years of history in Northern Kentucky as a stand-alone ministry. We are looking for an area director who can build and lead a team of volunteers and connect with students with disabilities in area high schools.
NKY YL Capernaum hosts a large summer day camp and The Royal Prom which is known across the area. The Capernaum committee is a committed and experienced team of adults who know and love the ministry of Capernaum and the disabilities community in NKY.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate spiritual leadership on a personal and professional level.
- Coordinate with local churches in support of the Capernaum ministry.
- Model excellence to other leaders in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
- Develop a plan to recruit, train, disciple, and develop local volunteer leaders to introduce students with disabilities to the gospel.
- Establish and develop the area calendar including clubs, Campaigners, camps, and special events.
- Develop relationships with leaders in the community in order to share the vision of Young Life Capernaum and invite them into it.
- Raise personal support and maintain good donor-care practices.
- Oversee the resource development of the area; meet with donors and help with fundraising events and/or opportunities.
- Consistently communicate ministry updates and progress to donor partners.
- Maintain accurate information on kids, leaders, and donors for area records.
- Host and facilitate monthly club and weekly Campaigners events.
- Connect with students in NKY schools, sports teams, organizations, and clubs.
- Participate in or lead staff events and Capernaum training events as required by Young Life.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated strong team leadership, ideally with Young Life.
- Previous work with adolescent kids is necessary, ideally with Young Life.
- Past Young Life staff experience preferred.
- Willingness to commit to serve NKY Capernaum for three to five years.
- Have an adventurous and adaptable attitude.
- Vision and ability to recruit, develop, and multiply leaders and volunteers.
- Innovative attitude toward developing ministry.
- Ability to identify and develop fundraising opportunities within the local community.
- Must maintain confidentiality.
- College degree preferred.
- Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Working Conditions
- Will include the extremes of a camp assignment, e.g., heat/cold, dirt, long hours, and the physical demands of hiking, horseback riding, boating, etc. Staff person must be able to handle these conditions.
