Area Director (Part-Time) — Milwaukee, WI

Description:

As a Young Life mission staff, this position helps to develop depth in ministry in schools. An ideal mission staff candidate is skilled at relational ministry with kids and has the abilities to develop teams of volunteer leaders and adult committee members. Having significant autonomy, this person is adept at managing time and is a strong communicator. The ideal candidate will lead and develop existing and new Young Life ministries.

Responsibilities:

Leadership Development: Recruit, train, mobilize, and retain a team of adult Young Life leaders who are executing the "5 C's" of Young Life.

  • Club: Plan and implement regular club meetings; help prepare, invite, attend, and participate in weekly club meetings.
  • Contact Work: Intentionally interact weekly by creating a strategy to reach students (talk with and spend time with them) outside of club.
  • Campaigners: Create an effective discipleship strategy for students by leading and participating in a Campaigners Bible study.
  • Camp: Lead one weekend or summer camp trip. Encourage and recruit leaders to attend camp.
  • Committee: Develop and build a team of adults around the ministry of Young Life. Build relationships with the school staff to establish trust of Young Life in their building. Serve as a team leader in one or two clubs, depending on community/school hours. Help lead training and leader recruitment. Partner with the local committee to develop parent support. Encourage partnerships with local churches. Raise funds in support and participate in area fundraising. Be active in staff meetings when scheduled.

Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred.
  • Experience as a volunteer leader in Young Life or similar ministry context.
  • Proven relational skills in ministry with adolescents.
  • Mature and active relationship with Jesus Christ. Living a life in all areas in accordance with Young Life's Faith and Conduct Policy.
  • Belong to a local church.
  • Able to lead a team of people toward a common vision.
  • Demonstrate a level of teachability, humility, and accountability to those who lead and follow.
  • Demonstrate a desire to reach ALL kids and an ability to adapt ministry based on race, gender, identity, socio-economic, etc.
  • Proficient in communication — verbal, written, and digital.
