college director — normal, IL

Young Life Bloomington-Normal is looking to fill a college director job at Illinois State University (ISU) — a first-choice institution with more than 20,000 students. Bloomington-Normal, Ill., ranks as one of the top 40 college towns in America based on its quality of life and among the top 10 for arts and entertainment opportunities. The area has everything to offer of a metro city with a small town feel of 150,000+ people.

This is an opportunity to start an outreach ministry on ISU’s campus, which is something they are lacking. There is a small liberal arts college, Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU), located right down the street from Illinois State, where there are also opportunities in the future to develop a team of people to start ministry there as well. This is a full-time position that includes salary and benefits.

  • Lead all aspects of the college ministry, including supervising a volunteer leader team.
  • Spend significant time each week building relationships with college students.
  • Plan and run weekly programmatic events for students, both outreach (club) and discipleship (Campaigners).
  • Opportunities to develop a team to have Young Life College on Illinois Wesleyan University's campus as well. IWU is a small liberal arts school in the community.
  • Assist the area director in the ongoing recruiting, leading and training of volunteer leaders.
  • Lead multiple summer and school season camp trips, retreats and mission trips.
  • Together with the area director, raise funds and awareness of Young Life in the area.

Qualifications:

  • A deep love for Jesus and passion for outreach ministry.
  • Ability and desire to relate to college students.
  • Strong Christian faith, knowledge of God's Word, and ability to lead others to Christ.
