Metro Southwest Young Life is looking to hire a staff associate to lead a thriving high school ministry at Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Ill. This is an exciting opportunity to develop a ministry and directly impact the lives of many teenagers.

Young Life is a non-profit organization with the goal of introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith. The Metro Southwest area consists of ministries to high school students, middle school students, and students with disabilities. The Young Life staff associate would be responsible for leading the ministry to high school students. This person will report to the Metro Southwest area director and work alongside a team of four other staff. This is a full-time position that includes salary and benefits.

About the Role

What you would do:

• Execute Young Life’s mission to “introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith” through the power of relationships.
• Lead all aspects of the high school ministry that consists of 150 involved students.
• Spend multiple hours per week building relationships with high school students.
• Plan and operate weekly programmatic events for students such as large group events and Bible studies.
• Lead, recruit and develop a team of adult and student volunteers.
• Lead multiple summer and school season camping trips.
• Together with the area director, raise funds and awareness of Young Life in the area.

Qualifications:

• A deep love for Jesus and passion for outreach ministry.
• Ability and desire to relate to high school students of every race, gender and socio-economic background.
• Strong Christian faith, knowledge of God's Word and ability to lead others to Christ.
• Proven track record of self-starting and taking initiative.
• Ability and desire to maintain a varying schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
• Experience in youth ministry.
• Possess high capacity and high energy level.
• Comfortable relating to adults of all ages.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Young Life experience is helpful, but not required.
