YoungLives​ Coordinator — Milwaukee, WI (Part-Time)

The YoungLives​ coordinator role requires a dynamic, vibrant personality who will lead Young Life ministries in area schools. This person is a self-starter with a high sense of drive and a missional mindset. This person loves the Lord and has a growing spiritual life outside of the ministry. This person possesses the perseverance to ask, inspire and motivate volunteers and students in the ministry. This position must be able to multitask and prioritize what is necessary for the ministry at any given time.

We are looking for someone who has a mature faith and is looking to help others do the same. Additionally, in this role, this person must feel comfortable carrying and leading a large number of relationships as this position will be asked to lead across all spectrums — junior high, high school, college alumni, young adults and parents. This person must have a high capacity to operate with minimal daily supervision and must be a highly motivated self-starter, vision caster, and implementer of that vision.

The YoungLives​ coordinator for Milwaukee is a critical role to the area. YoungLives​ has a rich history in various communities around the country and can make a major impact in the city of Milwaukee. The YoungLives​ team is currently active in one school, and the area’s board and director is looking for a coordinator who is passionate about teen moms, and has a vision to keep pursuing them with the love of Christ.

Responsibilities:

Mentors and Other Volunteers

  • Recruit, train, mobilize and retain mentors, childcare and other volunteers.
  • Supervise and evaluate volunteers in leadership development, spiritual formation and ministry with teen moms.
  • Meet regularly with the volunteer team for on-going training, ministry planning and community building

Contact Work

  • Create an effective contact work strategy to reach teen moms.
  • Be active in all three levels of contact work.
  • Train and engage the team on effective contact work.

Club

  • Plan and implement regular club meetings with excellence.
  • Train and engage the team in leading club.
  • Ensure that YoungLives​ health and safety policies are executed.
  • Campaigners and Discipleship
  • Create an effective discipleship strategy for teen moms.
  • Plan and implement regular Campaigners meetings with excellence.
  • Train and engage your team in leading Campaigners and the discipleship of teen moms.
  • Ensure that YoungLives​ health and safety policies are executed.

Camp

  • Partner with the respective area director to plan and implement a summer and school season camping strategy for YoungLives.
  • Engage and lead the community to help in all aspects of YoungLives​ camping.
  • Set the example of passionately pursuing teen moms to attend camp.
  • Highly encourage, recruit and train mentors to attend camp.
  • Recruit childcare workers for summer camp.
  • Create and implement a prayer strategy for camp.

Committee

  • Partner with the respective area director to build a sub-committee for YoungLives.
  • Regularly communicate and participate with the local Young Life committee.

Financial Management and Donor Development

  • Impart vision for the YoungLives​ ministry to potential donors.
  • Raise personal and ministry funds as determined by the supervisor.
  • Learn and implement Taking Donors Seriously (TDS) procedures.
  • Ensure that all Young Life financial policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Guarantee all expenses are within the budget.

Administration

  • Ensure the administrative requirements are handled with excellence and in a timely manner.
  • Comply with volunteer management procedures concerning YoungLives​ volunteers.

Community Outreach

  • Speak to civic and church groups to promote and publicize YoungLives.
  • Develop relationships with schools, teen parenting programs, crisis pregnancy centers and other applicable community organizations.

Training

  • Refer to the YoungLives​ Training Plan for YoungLives​ coordinators.
  • Pursue continuing education for professional development.
  • Pursue opportunities for personal development and spiritual maturity.

Additional Essential Duties for Stand-Alone YoungLives​ Areas

  • Recruit and build a YoungLives​ committee.
  • Complete and manage the annual budget.
  • Partner with the committee to secure and raise the area budget and oversee the finances.
  • Update ministry information in the Growth Planning Software (GPS) bi-annually.
  • Meet all area requirements as determined by the respective regional director.​

Qualifications:

Education

  • College degree preferred.
  • Completion of training as determined by the supervisor.

  • ​Commitment to a growing relationship with Christ.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the Gospel and train others accordingly.
  • Ability to clearly communicate Young Life’s mission and the vision for YoungLives.
  • Understand the unique issues faced by pregnant and parenting teen moms.
  • Proven relational skills with both adolescents and adults.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Goal-oriented.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel as the job requires.
