Mission Staff Associate, CU Boulder Young Life College (Part-Time) — Boulder, CO

Description:

The University of Colorado (CU) is located in Boulder, Colo., where nearly 35,000 students are enrolled. The student population comes from every state in the nation and 100 foreign countries. Students from many different ethnic, religious, academic, and social backgrounds attend CU. Young Life College at CU is a fun, challenging, fast-paced, rewarding, outreach ministry to college students. Ministry in a college town is full of adventure and community. Our staff team currently consists of a college director, part-time ministry staff, and two student staff.

We are looking to add a staff position with the primary focus of leading a group of volunteers and building relationships with college students. Young Life College also serves as a training ground for new leaders, who get placed in the local area (Boulder Valley) as well as the college ministry.

Our desire is for every college student to have the opportunity to hear about Jesus and be involved in a healthy, loving community of believers before they graduate.

We are looking for a mission staff associate who is excited about doing outreach and discipling college students.

We are looking for someone who has at least two years of leading as a volunteer and preferably has been on student staff and/or a team leader.

You will be supported by an active area committee and staff team as you step into your role. You will be asked to recruit and manage volunteers, raise 20k annually, and lead direct ministry.

Responsibilities:

  • Work to create a healthy, belonging community of college students that makes everyone feel welcomed with a “move into the neighborhood” type mindset.
  • Help college students fall in love with Jesus and show them with our lives how the overflow of that is sharing His love with our friends.
  • Invite others to join our volunteer leadership team including club, college events, adventure trips, life groups, and incarnational ministry.
  • Build relationships with CU students, administration, Young Life College staff, and local committee members.
  • Lead students and leaders on weekend trips, adventure trips, and serve on assignment teams when needed.
  • Actively participate in fundraising for the area and raise 20k annually in personal support.

Qualifications:

  • A strong and vibrant, growing desire to know Jesus.
  • At least two years of leading as a volunteer and preferably a year on student staff or as a team leader.
  • Demonstrated healthy ministry with middle school, high school, or college-age students.
  • Ability to recruit, train, and lead students and adults.
  • Ability to do ministry independently and willingness to hold a flexible schedule.
  • Willingness to collaborate and to work closely with other staff.
  • Willingness to build and execute fundraising strategy.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and teachable.
  • Proven time management skills.
  • College degree preferred.

Notes:

The area currently consists of a college director with three other part-time staff, two student staff, a strong committee, and team of volunteer leaders.

  • ‎$21,000 for year one, primary focus being on direct ministry and volunteer leaders.
  • $24,000 for year two, additional staff associate trainings. Potential to continue for a third year after year two following discussion with staff.
  • Year 3 TBD.
  • Our long-term goal is to have four teams of volunteers reaching out to each graduating class at CU Boulder.
