YoungLives​ Coordinator (Part-Time) — Tigard Tualatin, OR

Tigard Tualatin YoungLives​ is a ministry to pregnant and parenting adolescents. Our mission is that every adolescent has the opportunity to meet Jesus and grow in their faith. We believe that through this ministry to teen parents and their children we are impacting generations with hope. We are seeking a coordinator to lead the charge.

This individual should be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and compassionate. We desire a YoungLives​ coordinator who is energized by working with a diverse population of adults and adolescents. The individual should enjoy working with a team but also have the ability to work independently.

This is a part-time position (20 hours/week).

Responsibilities:

Mentors and Other Volunteers

  • Recruit, train, and retain mentors, childcare, and other volunteers.
  • Supervise and evaluate volunteers in leadership development, spiritual formation, and ministry with teen parents.
  • Ensure that all team members are trained and execute YoungLives​ health and safety policies.

The Five C's

  • Contact Work​ (building relationships with teen parents): Train and engage a team on creating an effective contact work strategy to reach teen parents.
  • Club​ (regular gatherings for teen parents and YoungLives​​ mentors): Plan and implement regular club meetings alongside the team with excellence.
  • Campaigners and Discipleship​ (small group Bible studies and one-on-one discipleship): Plan and implement an effective discipleship strategy alongside the team for teen parents.
  • Camp​ (Young Life camping experience at a Young Life property or another assigned location): Engage and lead the community to help in all aspects of YoungLives​ camping. Encourage, recruit, and train mentors and childcare help (nannies) to attend camp.
  • Committee​ (volunteer adult community members serving as a board): Recruit and retain an active YoungLives​ committee to partner with carrying out the work of the area.

Financial Management and Donor Development

  • Partner with the committee to secure and raise the area budget.
  • Raise personal and ministry funds to supplement camp and training needs as determined by the supervisor.

Administration and Development

  • Partner with the Young Life administrator to ensure the administrative requirements are handled with excellence and in a timely manner.
  • Update weekly and monthly ministry information in the YL Connect platform.
  • Regular support from the area director and regional YoungLives​​ coordinator.

Community Development

  • Establish church relationships through regular worship and positive ministry interactions with local congregations.
  • Develop relationships with schools, teen parenting programs, crisis pregnancy centers, and other applicable community organizations.
  • Alongside the committee, host an annual fundraiser for YoungLives.​

Training and Personal Development

  • As available, attend regional staff meetings and trainings as requested by the regional director and YoungLives​​ regional and/or divisional coordinator.
  • Meet with the regional YoungLives​ coordinator once a month and attend regular Area Leadership Team meetings.
  • Pursue continuing education for professional development, personal development, and spiritual maturity.

Qualifications:

  • Commitment to a growing relationship with Christ.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the Gospel and train others accordingly.
  • Understand the unique issues faced by pregnant and parenting adolescents.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Proven relational skills with children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to travel as the job requires.
