Area Director I or II — ​ The Woodlands, TX

South Montgomery County Young Life is prayerfully seeking an area director to lead and develop ministry in The Woodlands — a suburb north of Houston with a population of more than 114,000 people.

Currently, we have one Young Life club that serves The Woodlands High School. The Young Life area is in an excellent financial position — supported by a strong committee and volunteer leader team — and is able to hire a staff associate for an additional high school as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Personal spiritual health and a vital relationship with Christ.
  • Develop community and spiritual care for leaders, staff, and committee.
  • Lead a model Young Life club; lead/supervise an effective Campaigners ministry with excellence.
  • Develop and sustain adult volunteers and student leaders, including the area committee, to maximize Gospel proclamation.
  • Develop and execute an area vision and strategic plan.
  • Work in partnership with the committee on the financial development of the area.
  • Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.
  • Participation and leadership in annual staff events and training.
  • Committee recruitment/training/leading and maintaining relationships and roles.
  • Will include the extremes of a camp assignment, e.g., heat/cold, dirt, long hours, and the physical demands of hiking, horseback riding, etc. Staff person must be able to handle these conditions.

Qualifications:

  • A deep and growing faith in God.
  • A passion for reaching lost kids and calling others to that mission.
  • A philosophy and history of discipling others.
  • A vision and plan to grow current ministries in reaching kids, leaders, committee, and parents.
  • A servant leader who is teachable, innovative, collaborative, and flexible.
  • Ability to build, train, recruit, and grow teams of people (student leaders, adult leaders, and committee members).
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills as it pertains to donors and parents of kids.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Completion of Young Life Core Training — Phase One preferred.
  • College degree preferred.
