Associate Area Director — Midland, TX

The West Texas Region is prayerfully seeking to hire an associate area director for Midland, Texas. This hire will work alongside the area director to oversee all Young Life ministry in two high schools, supervise multiple part-time staff and leaders, and lead direct ministry. This person will also work alongside leaders to ensure the quality of Capernaum and YoungLives​ ministry. This is a full-time position that is not remote. This dynamic staff person will oversee the outreach and discipleship ministry to high school students. Currently the area has strong Young Life, Capernaum, and YoungLives​ ministry.

Responsibilities:

  • Personal spiritual health and a vital relationship with God.
  • Develop community and spiritual care for a team. Supervise at least one ministry in the area.
  • Assist in casting the area’s vision for reaching “every kid” within the area.
  • Build healthy working relationships with the school administration, churches, parents, and the community.
  • Participate in and lead dynamic direct ministry (contact work, club, Campaigners, and camp) alongside staff and volunteers.
  • Along with the area director, develop and implement ongoing plans to maximize Gospel proclamation through camping opportunities.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life property, other Young Life camp, or in another position as directed.
  • Work with the supervisor and committee on area fundraising.
  • Raise personal financial support.
  • Attend regional and area trainings and events.
  • Will include the extremes of a camp assignment, e.g., heat/cold, dirt, long hours, and the physical demands of hiking, horseback riding, boating, etc. Staff person must be able to handle these conditions.

Qualifications:

  • A deep and growing faith in God.
  • A passion for reaching lost adolescents and calling others to that mission.
  • A philosophy and history of discipling others.
  • A vision and plan to grow current ministries in reaching kids, leaders, committee, and parents.
  • A servant leader who is teachable, innovative, collaborative, and flexible.
  • Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills as it pertains to donors and parents of kids.
  • Demonstrated fundraising experience, proven relational skills with both kids and adults, and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have completed Core Training - Phase One.
  • College degree preferred.
