Associate Regional Director — Northeast Texas Region

Young Life Northeast Texas Region is prayerfully seeking an associate regional director to join our fun-loving, collaborative, “kid-first” leadership team. This role will supervise six to 12 growing and diverse areas and/or area startups within the region. Ministry in these active areas include high school, WyldLife, YoungLives, Capernaum, and Young Life College and is happening in the Dallas metro area and across communities of every size in Northeast Texas. The ideal candidate will be Biblically rooted, have passion for every kind of kid, be a champion of innovation, collaboration, healthy supervision, and (most of all) have a heart rooted in Christ.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Development

  • Exemplify through personal care of his or her own soul and prayer life, a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Lead others in a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ, ensuring the health of staff and a vibrant ministry.
  • Develop a yearly personal growth plan that fosters a vibrant spiritual life including time for solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and a sincere commitment to understanding God’s Word.
  • Ensure that all Young Life ministry in the region is designed and carried out with a dependence on prayer that takes place out of the overflow of a healthy soul and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Leadership Development

  • Assist the regional director and the team leading staff in the region toward healthy leadership of self and others.
  • Share and cast vision for reaching “every kid” in the Northeast Texas Region.
  • Assist in developing diverse leadership and ministries.
  • Ensure a plan is in place to develop a regional pipeline for staff alongside the regional director; recruit, interview, hire, and position staff in the region.
  • Facilitate departures when necessary and as assigned.
  • Actively supervise through face-to-face monthly meetings.
  • Develop a training and supervisory structure appropriate for leaders and staff involved in any specialized ministries (YoungLives, Capernaum, WyldLife, and Young Life College).
  • Assist the regional director in the development and implementation of regional trainings.
  • Conduct assignments or events as assigned by the regional director including leadership weekends, recruiting days, staff development, leader training, and more.
  • Oversee, create, and be involved in any regional initiatives (as assigned by the regional director).
  • Ensure area leadership strategies are producing healthy people, healthy teams, and healthy ministry.

Resource Development

  • Recruit, develop, encourage, and sustain local area committees as partners in ministry.
  • Help areas develop area committees.
  • Communicate regularly with ministry partners and donors.
  • Assist in developing the region’s fundraising strategy, ensuring excellence in communication to donors.
  • Raise the necessary funds to carry out the regional ministry vision; ensure adequate financial support is raised to fund expenses and initiatives with the regional director.
  • Ensure a support-raising plan, including vision statement and strategy and financial master plan, is implemented and reviewed for each area under your direct supervision.
  • Raise a high level of personal budget as agreed upon with the regional director.
  • Work with Development staff to identify potential donors for missionwide efforts.
  • Coordinate and conduct quality events which reflect Young Life’s capacity to impact kids and warrant the investment of a participant’s personal and corporate resources.
  • Aid in the recruitment, development, encouragement, and sustaining of a diverse regional board.

Direct Ministry

  • Develop a plan to identify interested adults in a targeted area who would help the Young Life ministry to grow.
  • Involvement in the development of new areas including adult support, financial support, leader recruitment, and training, budget costs, camping opportunities, and targeted schools.
  • Visit an area as needed or assigned including routine and emergency crisis visits.
  • Observe and evaluate local areas to ensure Young Life ministry is carried out with excellence.
  • Maintain ministry contact with kids to the extent it is necessary to be effective in this role.
  • Provide networking opportunities to offer additional camping experiences using non-Young Life camps and discipleship experiences.
  • Have a plan for expansion to all senior high and middle schools in the area as well as the expansion of YoungLives, Capernaum, WyldLife, Young Life College, and other focus ministries.
  • Assist in developing strategies to grow Young Life “deeper” (in current ministries), “wider” (to the next school or ministry in existing areas) and “longer” (to the next community or town).

Ministry Support

  • Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication to everyone within the scope of ministry.
  • Develop an appropriate system for reporting, expense report responsibilities, and the use of regional funds using Young Life accounting applications.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plan growth and initiatives to grow the ministry; review them on a regular basis.
  • Accept both short- and long-term assignments of projects. (e.g., training, belonging, Next Generation Leaders, spiritual formation, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Proven spiritual leader.
  • Proven leadership in developing diverse staff and ministries.
  • Commitment to healthy, intentional supervision.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Ability to raise a high level of personal support.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to supervise at a distance but also travel as the job requires.
  • Young Life experience strongly preferred.
  • Spanish-speaking a plus
  • Has the potential and capacity to function as a regional director.
