Description:

New Orleans Young Life is seeking a part-time Young Life College coordinator to lead ministry at Tulane. This individual will work alongside New Orleans staff to walk alongside college students in outreach and discipleship. This individual will also work to integrate their leaders and ministry into the larger fabric of the area’s community.

Responsibilities:

Direct Ministry

• College student outreach and discipleship.
• Under the leadership of the supervisor, recruit, develop and empower college-aged students to carry on the work of the ministry in a way that is unique to their campus yet consistent with the mission and values of Young Life.
• Assist in developing a student leadership team that creates opportunities for college-aged individuals to discover Jesus, build community and live out their faith in service.
• Participate in creatively planning and implementing a regular outreach meeting — Young Life College club.
• On a regular basis, meet with student leaders to provide guidance and encouragement.
• On a regular basis, pursue and meet with non-leadership students in their environments for the purpose of relational outreach ministry.
• Oversee an aspect(s) of the ministry determined by the supervisor and based on:
  
  – Gifts, talents and passions of the individual.
  
  – Needs of the campus ministry (e.g., Greek ministry, small group ministry, mission and local outreach).
• Develop relationships with key adults in the community as assigned by the supervisor.
• Recruit college students to serve as WyldLife and Young Life leaders and on summer staff.

Ministry Management

• Coordinate details for assigned areas of responsibility (e.g., weekly Young Life College club, retreats, small groups, mission trips and special events).
• Plan and prepare to speak/teach at a Young Life College event(s) as determined by the supervisor.
• Attend committee and adult functions as assigned.
• Provide administrative support for various elements of the ministry.
• Lead and grow our Young Life College outreach. This includes organizing club and Campaigners for college students at Tulane.
• Over time, develop and grow vision to reach more students at Tulane.
• Work with our staff team on area-wide outreach and fundraising events.

Personal Support Team

• Create a team of people for personal support through prayer and financial contribution.
• Communicate ongoing ministry progress to personal donor partners.

Qualifications:

• A vital, growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
• Ability and desire to minister to college-aged individuals — one-on-one and in small/large groups.
• Proven relational and communication skills with both students and adults.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Desire and proven ability to work with a team.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multitask, adapt and be flexible.
• Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• A four-year college degree prior to start date (preferred).
• Prior work or volunteer experience in college ministry (preferred).
