Crittenden County (West Memphis, Tenn./Marion, Ark.) is a suburb of Memphis, Tenn., and an important part of Young Life in the Tennessee Region. Located just across the Mississippi River from The Bluff City, Crittenden County’s Young Life club serves two high schools and a vibrant WyldLife ministry. Also located in Crittenden County is Arkansas State-Midsouth (a regional state college that provides abundant resources to the community). In 15 short years, God has woven Young Life into the fabric of the community, and we believe the best is yet to come!

Crittenden County is searching for a trained Young Life area director full of unwavering optimism, tenacity and creativity to lead staff, develop leaders, entrench in the community and reach students with the gospel. If you’re a proven ministry leader with a deep heart for Christ, a love for adolescents, experience in recruiting/developing volunteers and cultivating a strong donor base ... you will thrive in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate a thriving spiritual environment among 16 current volunteers and two student interns while maintaining your own healthy relationship with Jesus.
  • Curate a consistent leadership pipeline with a strong culture of growing in Christ and pursuing adolescents incarnationally.
  • Partner with the Young Life committee to develop the area’s fundraising strategy while ensuring excellent communication to donors.
  • Raise the necessary funds (through events and donor asks) to carry out the ministry vision for the local area, keeping the area consistently in surplus.
  • Create and pursue a broadly-owned area vision strategy that encompasses a diversity of ministry expressions throughout the Crittenden County Area.
  • Model excellence in all areas of the job description and execution of Young Life’s 5 C’s (club, Campaigners, camp, contact work and committee).
  • Position the area for growth including the addition of a second Young Life club.
  • Develop potential staff (part-time and full-time) for the area, region and mission through escalating leadership opportunities.
  • Maintain order and organization of area functions with the ability to delegate responsibility.

  • Deep love for Christ, as well as teenagers and young adults.
  • Sincere sense of God’s calling to ministry.
  • Experience leading and developing staff.
  • Eternal optimist able to winsomely rally, disciple and mobilize volunteers.
  • Lead by example in area fundraising and development of new donors.
  • Compelling story-teller and deliverer of Young Life’s vision.
  • Desire to immerse in the community at large and extend the hope of the gospel to all adolescents regardless of ethnicity, ability, gender or socio-economic reality.
  • Love for the mission of Young Life and the incarnational relationship-based approach.
  • Highly motivated, creative and organized self-starter.
  • Cast vision and invite others into the mission of what God is doing in Crittenden County.
  • Ability to develop relationships and partner with local churches.
  • Proven relational and leadership skills with youth, adults and Generation Z.
  • Proficiency in recruiting, training and leading college students and adults.
  • Bachelor's degree.
