Area Director II — Newport Beach/Costa Mesa, CA

Young Life in the Newport Beach/Costa Mesa (NMYL) area has deep roots and history and is committed to reaching young people in the community. Under the leadership of a new area director, there is room for growth in the existing WyldLife and Young Life ministries with the eventual goal of expanding to other middle and high schools in the area. The area serves a broad demographic and reaches kids from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and socio-economic standing.

The current NMYL community is blessed with an engaged committee, good community support, school relationships, and generous donors.

At the core of this role, we are looking for a leader of leaders. We are looking for someone who prioritizes recruiting and investing in volunteer leaders and staff, but also models working with kids in an ongoing direct ministry capacity.

This person would also be part of a dynamic region with like-minded staff, all pursuing kids in their areas with passion and hearts for collaboration.

Note: Because of the missionary nature of this role, staff are expected to live in the community they are serving. There is not a remote option available. Additionally, personal fundraising is required as a part of the employment process. Please ask if you have any further questions.

Responsibilities:

  • Invest spiritually into volunteer leaders and staff.
  • Spend time with kids, leaders, and staff modeling what a life with Christ and mission community looks like.
  • Train and recruit a team of volunteer leaders to do ministry alongside you from among the five local colleges.
  • Lead weekly outreach events and Bible studies.
  • Travel to participate in regional meetings, assignment, and camps throughout the year.
  • Invest in the community in which you are serving.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with current and prospective donors.
  • Fundraise to support the area budget.
  • Provide executive and administrative oversight.

  • At least two years of full-time Young Life staff experience or equivalent.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Proven track record of fundraising.
  • Proven competence with cultural intelligence.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Notes:

Salary range is between $4,026-$6,051 monthly.
