Area Director or Staff Associate — Mt. Baldy CA (Glendora, Azusa, La Verne)

Young Life Mount Baldy is seeking a new full-time Area Director or Staff Associate. The Mount Baldy Area is located in Glendora, California and also includes surrounding communities. The area has a vibrant Capernaum ministry, Young Life’s ministry catered to teens with disabilities. This ministry has proven to be a vital part of the community and serves kids that are often sidelined in society. We also have a Young Life ministry for high school kids that has strong potential for growth. Azusa Pacific University is located in this area and has proven to be a great place to recruit outstanding volunteer leaders. There is a dedicated committee in place to support and work alongside a staff person in this mission.

Glendora is a charming town, located NE of Los Angeles at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains. Glendora is a family town that is much quieter than most parts of Los Angeles, though it still offers great access to the attractions of LA. The person who ought to apply for this position will be eager to develop broad ministry to MS, HS, and college kids while maintaining dynamic Capernaum ministry to teens with disabilities. They will also be willing to network with local churches, community leaders, and schools to best serve lost kids in the community. The area has incredible potential for impact.

Responsibilities:

Spiritual Development –​ Creating and leading a spiritually healthy environment in which all those connected to Young Life grow in their faith.

Leadership Development – Recruiting, training and supporting a team of volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.

Resource Development/Fundraising – Raising personal support as well as partnering with the committee to raise budgeted revenue.

  • Raising personal support from the employees' network.
  • Working with the committee on area support/fundraising events.

Direct Ministry –​ “Proclaiming and modeling” includes contact work, club, Campaigners and camp. Actively engage in all three levels of contact work.

Ministry Support – Work with the local committee to build community connections and support the overall organization of the area. Practice excellence in administration and communication.

Training – This person will report to the regional director and will be expected to participate in regional and national training events.

Qualifications:

  • A deep and growing faith in Jesus.
  • A call to reach students with the Gospel.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Recent youth ministry experience (seventh through 12th grade).
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Completion of a college degree preferred.
  • Completion of Young Life Staff Associate training preferred or another relevant training equivalent.
  • Willingness to raise personal financial support.
