Associate Regional Director, Orange County — Southcoast Region, CA

Description:

Leadership Development –​ “Equipping leaders, committee and staff.”

  • Assist the regional director in casting vision of tripling the number of kids known by name in next five years by recruiting more leaders, starting new ministries, and opening new areas. New area potential: Irvine, Santa Ana, Anaheim, Saddleback Valley.
  • Work with the regional director to recruit, interview, hire and place staff in Orange County.
  • Supervise, develop, resource, equip and evaluate staff under your leadership:

    - Tustin
    - Surf City (Huntington Beach)
    - South Orange County
    - YL ONE OC
    - Newport-Mesa
    - YoungLives​ North OC
    - Orange
  • Facilitate departures when necessary and as assigned.
  • Assist the regional director in the development and implementation of regional trainings or various projects as needed and as fit within time availability.
  • Implement a personal development plan to develop the skills and capabilities needed to be an exceptional associate regional director.

Resource Development – “Fueling the ministry.”

  • Help areas under your oversight develop committees and build committee area ownership.
  • Communicate regularly with committee chairs in areas supervised and meet with them alongside their area directors at least twice a year in person to set goals and evaluate the year.
  • Review the Area Health Indicator (AHI) at least annually with the area directors under your leadership.
  • Help ensure the areas under your supervision are raising the necessary funds to carry out the area's ministry vision (expectation of one cash month ahead all year).
  • Personal donor development and caring for donors within the OC geography.
  • Participate as an active member of the campaign team, helping to identify and cultivate relationships and make asks to complete the $9M campaign.

Direct Ministry – “Proclaiming and discipling.”

  • Assist in the development of new areas in Orange County and identify interested adults to help the ministry to grow.
  • Visit areas under supervision including routine visits to ensure excellent ministry (with one visit per semester to each area to "see" club, leadership meeting or fundraising event).
  • Check-in supervision calls or visits scheduled every week there is no other area director gathering.
  • Emergency crisis visits to areas as needed.
  • Lead areas under supervision to meet criterion for healthy area (3.3 or above average) under AHI.
  • Assist the regional director to develop the five-year vision.

Ministry Support – “Taking care of business.”

  • Maintain professionalism concerning office hours, dress, conduct and time management.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate and professional communication to everyone within the scope of ministry.
  • Oversight of area budgets under scope of supervision.
  • A variety of other regional initiatives, projects, etc. as assigned by the regional director.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and ownership of regional projects — assigned based on passion, competencies, skill-set and regional need.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to supervise at a distance.
  • Proven spiritual leader.
  • Proven leadership in developing diverse staff and ministries.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Has the potential and capacity to function as a regional director.
  • Ability to navigate conversations around DEB in a healthy way.
  • Knowledge of and ability to train on cultural intelligence.
