College Director (University of Hawai’i at Mānoa) — Honolulu, HI

With approximately 15,000 undergraduate students at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa, we hope to relaunch this ministry and take it to the next level with the leadership of a full-time staff person. This person will work closely with the local area director, partnering with the local area to do both outreach and leadership development. This person will be a key player in the vision to grow the local ministries in the largest city in the state of Hawai’i. Everywhere there is strong Young Life College ministry, there are more volunteers to love and care for local teenagers.

Responsibilities:

  • Train and develop student leaders to serve with you.
  • Oversee student outreach and discipleship among your team; coordinate and lead a weekly club on campus.
  • Develop, oversee, and lead small groups, as well as one-on-one mentorship.
  • Plan “camping” opportunities (service projects, spring break trip, fall camp, summer staff, etc.).
  • Pursue and meet college-aged students in their environment by consistently meeting students on campus.
  • Build community among students and the leadership team through meetings, mentorship, and experiences.
  • Promote community ownership among students and local adults; communicate the vision of Young Life College.
  • Network with adults in the community and at the university.
  • Implement and lead college leader recruitment efforts.
  • Fundraise (at minimum) $60,000/year.
  • Develop and maintain good donor relationships.
  • Work closely with the local area director to create and maintain a leadership training program that will allow leaders to be placed in various schools around Honolulu.
  • Create a vision that includes both local students and students from out of state.
  • Attend all Young Life College divisional trainings.
  • Work well in an environment that sees a high degree of turnover.
  • Be respectful of and embrace a community that is deeply influenced by unique local culture.

Qualifications:

  • Deep, abiding faith in Jesus Christ and love for people.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Young Life experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Willingness to be coached in personal fundraising.
  • Strong organizational skills.
