Staff Associate — New Mexico

Description:

Young Life in Arizona and New Mexico has a rich history and a strong growth trajectory. We have 38 areas throughout the two states with a mix of high school, middle school, college, Capernaum, YoungLives, and Foster Care focused ministries. We are looking for new staff members to join us who have a passion for introducing Jesus to students and seeing them grow in their relationship with Him.

The staff associate program focuses on training and equipping field staff to introduce adolescents to Christ and help them grow in their faith and is the most common pathway to becoming an area director with Young Life.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and lead a team of volunteer leaders for a local Young Life ministry.
  • Model what it means to be an excellent leader through contact work, club, and Campaigners.
  • Partner with the area board to engage adults in the local community in building a financial and relational support system for ministry.
  • Participate in monthly board and regional staff meetings.
  • Raise the financial support amount stated in the funding agreement (TBD through the hiring process).
  • Maintain good donor care practices with a personal and local donor base.
  • Participate in local fundraising events under the direction of the area director.
  • Manage budget requirements as they pertain to the Young Life ministries in your area.
  • Lead multiple camp trips throughout the summer and school season.
  • Actively participate in a local church community.
  • Serve on an assignment team at a Young Life camp each summer (up to four weeks).
  • Participate in the Young Life Staff Associate training program.

Qualifications:

  • A deep and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • A willingness to become an active member of a local church.
  • A desire and ability to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith and the ability to teach others to do the same.
  • Experience in direct ministry with students.
  • Track record of strong leadership and interpersonal skill sets.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic and desire to learn.
  • Ability to build a team of leaders and empower them to reach kids.
  • Able to develop rapport with the area board and work collaboratively with them.
  • Lead in 360-degrees: leading self, leading peers, leading teams, and leading up.
  • Ability to complete the Personal Donor Development Training and raise annual personal financial support; the amount will be determined by the area director and area board and stated in the funding agreement.
  • Ability to work in challenging conditions of camp including hot/cold temperatures, outdoor elements, long hours, and physical demands.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • College degree preferred.
