San Diego Metro is a newly formed Young Life Metro Area that encompasses much of San Diego City and various cities surrounding East and South San Diego County. San Diego Metro is looking for a full-time addition to the metro team of staff (San Diego Metro includes a team of 10 staff).

San Diego Metro Young Life is seeking a full-time staff associate to work closely with the metro director and board to grow the direct ministry of one of our targeted new ministry areas in Metro San Diego (potential areas of new development could include but are not limited to: Eastlake, El Cajon, YL One, etc.). ​ San Diego Metro seeks a staff person willing to:

• Lead, model and develop new ministries in her or his assigned area.
• Partner with local churches, schools and others passionate about students.
• Build community among students, faculty, families, neighbors, donors and volunteers.
• Encourage a culture of diversity, equity and belonging.
• Have fun and help others have fun.
• Raise personal financial support and financial support for the organization.

There are vibrant ministries with Young Life, WyldLife, YoungLives​ and College throughout the broader San Diego Metro area. The ideal candidate will help develop a devoted volunteer committee, maintain core teams of volunteer leaders, increase financial support, and increase collaboration with local churches and community partners. As a new ministry leader, this person would enjoy all the benefits of being part of a larger local metro family of staff and trainers as he or she seeks to spark new ministry in one of our targeted spaces for growth.

Responsibilities:

• Spiritual Development —​ Leading a spiritually healthy environment in which all those connected to Young Life grow in their faith.
• Direct Ministry —​ Modeling vibrant contact work, club, camp and Campaigners on a chosen campus.
• Leadership Development — Recruiting, training and supporting a team of volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.
• Resource Development/Fundraising —​ Raising personal support as well as partnering with the board to raise budgeted revenue.
• Vision and Strategy –​ Working with the area director and board to cast vision and implement strategy in the area, while working in partnership with the vision for the Los Angeles Young Life Region.
• Financial Support — Raise sufficient personal support and partner with the local area committee to raise sufficient operations and camp funds each year.
• Ministry Support —​ Practice excellence in administration and communication.
• Receive Training —​ As required, depending on experience.

Qualifications:

• A deep and growing relationship with Jesus.
• A call to reach young people with the Gospel.
• Proven leadership skills.
• Proven relational skills with both young people and adults.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven fundraising skills and a willingness to develop this discipline.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
