Staff Associate/Associate Area Director — Rancho San Diego, CA

San Diego Metro Young Life is seeking a new full-time staff associate OR associate area director to work closely with the metro director and the local committee to grow the direct ministry in the Rancho San Diego​ area of Metro San Diego (located in the unincorporated community of Rancho San Diego of El Cajon, Calif.). The area seeks a full-time staff person willing to:

  • Lead, model and develop the active ministries in Rancho San Diego.
  • Partner with local churches, schools and others passionate about students.
  • Build community among students, faculty, families, neighbors, donors and volunteers.
  • Encourage a culture of diversity, equity and belonging.
  • Develop and raise sufficient financial support as an individual and on behalf of the organization.
  • Have fun and help others have fun.

There are vibrant ministries with Young Life and WyldLife on campus and growing teams for both high school and middle school. The ideal candidate will help develop a devoted volunteer committee (of which there are several current prospects and engaged families), maintain core teams of volunteer leaders at all three schools (Hillsdale Middle School, Steele Canyon High School, and Valhalla High School), increase financial support, and increase collaboration with local churches and community partners.

This is a great role for an ambitious self-starter and visionary who is excited about sharing the Good News of Jesus and discipling young leaders in the area.

This is an exciting new chapter for San Diego Metro with a team committed and ready to multiply and build new ministries to reach even more young people with the invitation of life with Jesus!

Responsibilities:

  • Spiritual Development —​ Leading a spiritually healthy environment in which all those connected to Young Life grow in their faith.
  • Direct Ministry — Modeling vibrant contact work, club, camp and Campaigners on a chosen campus.
  • Leadership Development — Recruiting, training and supporting two teams of volunteers to serve as leaders and committee members.
  • Resource Development/Fundraising — Raising personal support as well as partnering with the metro area to raise budgeted revenue for Operations and Campership.
  • Vision and Strategy –​ Working with the metro director and local committee to cast vision and implement strategy in the area, while working in partnership with the vision for San Diego Metro.
  • Ministry Support — Practice excellence in administration and communication.
  • Receive Training — As required depending on experience.

Qualifications:

  • A deep and growing relationship with Jesus.
  • A call to reach young people with the Gospel.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Proven relational skills with both young people and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Associate or bachelor's degree preferred.
  • History of or willingness to develop personal donor financial support.
