Senior Project Manager

Mission/Authority:

As a key member of the Ops Readiness team, this role serves the mission of Young Life by developing, planning, and implementing an ERP system. This role will work closely with the mission leadership (CFO, executive sponsor), program owner, and project teams, delivering value through integrated project and change management services and skills, and coaching the project management discipline throughout the organization to enable operational improvements in alignment with mission goals.

Essential Duties:

Manage Portfolio of Projects

  • Effectively oversee a portfolio of projects from conception to closeout of registered and approved integrated project/change management initiatives emphasizing major systems implementation (ERP, HRIS, CRM).
  • Expertly coach and/or assess and refine project scope towards maximum mission value.
  • Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution in order to improve team and mission productivity while promoting continuous improvement.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and leadership to staff, matrixed project leaders and to project teams on usage and applications of best for Young life practices.
  • Oversee and drive portfolio of project activities to deliver required functionality on time and within budget.
  • Supervise Project Managers and/or Business Analysts as assigned.

Project Management

  • Effectively manage projects for new or improved business systems such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system including the following:

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Supervise all project activities including initiation, planning, ​ ​ ​ ​ monitoring/controlling and closeout.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Facilitate project management processes and documentation throughout the lifecycle of the project

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Manage project budget, scope and schedule

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Implement quality planning and management.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Provide risk analysis and manage risk logs in order to track mitigation plans.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Identify, report on and respond to risks, assumptions and status of projects. ​ ​

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Select and recruit project teams; organize team meetings.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Facilitate selection of consulting firms or other procurements (when applicable).

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Facilitate and assist in implementing a project communications plan.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Provide Executive Sponsors project updates with the Product Owners.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Ensure that all documentation is properly completed.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Evaluate performance of project teams and individual team members.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Conduct post-implementation project reviews.

​ ​ ​ ​ ​ - Remain current in technical skill in all emerging applicable skill areas.

  • Investigate business systems, identify options for improving business systems, and bridge the needs of organizational units with a high level of focus on the best use of emerging and digital technologies for the mission, as assigned.
  • Lead the implementation of new organizational processes aligned with ERP and related program configuration.
  • Select and recruit an ERP & other program related Implementation Teams
  • Create an ERP & other program related Implementation Budgets
  • Facilitate selection of consulting firms or other procurements (when applicable).
  • Create an Organizational Change Management (OCM) Plan and assist in the execution of the plan.
  • Strategize with Subject Matter Experts the Plan to Cleanse and Migrate ERP & other program related Data
  • Create the Test Plan for the new ERP & other related programs.
  • Adapt impacted Business Processes to the new ERP and other related programs.
  • Evaluate the Success of the ERP & other related program Implementations.

Change Management

  • Lead organizational change management (OCM) activities as assigned.
  • Lead or participate in the change management process including facilitating OCM plans for Leadership Alignment, Training, Support, Feedback and Marketing/Communications.
  • Manage scope and schedule for the OCM plans inside the overall project plan.
  • Assist Product Owners in driving for decisions and approval of OCM plans.
  • Report on the OCM status.
  • Assess risks and manage risk mitigations.

Department leadership and roles

  • Collaborate with IS leadership to identify, document, implement and maintain best practices that are best for Young Life in the areas of center of excellence and community of practice.
  • Participate in the development and monitoring of project budgets.
  • Provide professional status reports and deliver presentations as required.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Five years and/or multiple projects leading major systems implementation (ERP, HRIS, CRM) experience, required
  • Five years direct work experience in a lead project management, business analyst and/or organizational change management capacity, including all aspects of project design, development and execution.
  • Previous experience/involvement in Young Life or a large non-profit a plus.
  • Experience with content management/learning management/digital marketing and work tracking systems a plus.
  • Experience with Salesforce, LucidChart, Microsoft Project and SmartSheets.
  • Solid working knowledge of current technologies.
  • Strong written, interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Adept at conducting research into project-related issues and products.
  • 1-3 experience supervising and encouraging personal development of staff.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality.
  • High degree of interaction and coordination at all levels of the organization.
  • Persuasive, encouraging, tenacious, motivating and tactful when working with various team members, upper management and on politically sensitive tasks/projects.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and adapt to change under high-pressure circumstances.
  • Strong facilitative, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Passionate about learning new technology and processes to enable mission goals.
  • Self-motivated, curious, hard-working and innovative

Education:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • PMP required
  • Scrum, Agile and/or SAFE certification desired or willingness to gain certifications.
  • PROSCI certification desired or willingness to gain certification.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is open to remote work
  • Salary range is between $5,442 - $6,948 per month or $65,308 - $83,375 per year.
